Sure hurts less!!!

I can attest to that! I'm nursing a very sore tailbone today after biffing it in yesterday. Luckily an instructor saw my landing and said I had never finished my flare either. I had been paying more attention to making s turns so I could try an land near the X. Hopefully I won't make that mistake again. Ouch!!
Congrats on your good landing, Pammi! :)Skies,

Thanks guys! Be careful with that tailbone thing! It didn't help that I always thought "well, I can slide in on my butt if I'm going too fast", became a little too dependant upon it, then was told by some people at Quincy "Do NOT do that if you don't have to or you could hurt your back badly!". Even heard a girl was paralized this year from such a landing (does anyone know if this is true?!). So I'm determined to lay off my butt landings, although, I'm pretty damn sore everywhere else today!! LOL!
A few Quincy pics...more to come!

Yeah, you are definitely an asshole!

Hey Merrick....I dont think that he means anything by it. I surely didn't mean anything when I said that about boobies. I am married too, man, and I know how you feel. My friends think it's funny to joke like that, but after I busted one of their eyes, they know I dont like it.
I really apologize for saying that earlier on the "whore" thread. Just joking around, bud!!! :)--------------

Talk about sore!! My legs are so sore! I even stretched before my jumps.. Guess I need to get to the gym again [sad] oh Well Pammi I'm still proud of you and your landings. I have to admit tho, mine arent the greatest I'm flaring way to early and come in hard, but I'm coming in standing up.. My JM told me what I've read on here, "Wait till you can make out a blade of grass then flare nice and smooth and you should come in very nicely. Gunna try it this weekend if not this week! weather here in Houston is HOT but no rain or heavy winds in the forecast. Looking forward to some jumps during the week! :)Blue Skies!http://www.geocities.com/scollins77057/index.html

"I dont think that he means anything by it."

Oh, I know no one means anything by it, & I actually like most of the shit people give her (I hope I didn't offend you with anything). However, there is a big difference between talking about showing some boobies, or suggesting some ass-f**king!
Peace brudda!

I had also heard about someone being paralyzed from a butt landing, too. After my knee injury I have gotten into the bad habit of sliding in my landings. After this weekend I don't plan on doing that any more. I'm even more sore today. On my second tandem jump (almost exactly 2 years ago today!) I broke my tailbone. You would have thought I'd already learned my lesson but at this dz we have a thick, soft, sandy landing area so I wasn't that worried. I don't even want to think about what this last landing would have been like on grass. Anyway, I'm definitely going back to landing on my feet even if I have to PLF. This week I'm planning on going out to this lake near me and practicing jumping off the picnic benches and doing PLFs and also landing on my right leg (it's my left knee that's bad) and then running it out. Also planning on practice flaring with my hands out where I can see them while I do this. Hopefully that will help.
Here's to good landings for everyone next weekend!!
Skies,
D :P

Pammi,
It sounds like you were already given some great advice. I have something to add in case no one before mentioned it. One thing my boyfriend told me that has dramatically changed my landings is to start my flair higher and slowly flair it all the way down. I was waiting until I thought I needed to flair and keeping my brakes up until I thought it was time to flair and then I'd make one quick move and pull my brakes all the way down. Needless to say I was leaving a lot of flairs unfinished and not getting a full brake out of my canopy. When I started pulling them down higher and just slowly finishing out my flair until my feet touch the ground, my landings have become more consistent and I've been standing all of them up. Up until that point, the only advice I was given was look at the horizon, look at the ground, look at the ground just in front of you, bla, bla, bla. Everyone has their own idea of what works for them and I didn't have a clue but that piece of advice helped me tremendously. Hope it helps you too;).
Much love and blue skies,

IMHO...I must say that there is sometimes a bit too much fluff on DZ.com. Granted I am not looking to see a rec.skydiving attitude but we dont always have to agree with each other. And we dont have to agree to disagree either. Just because we are all skydivers does not mean that we must like each other...Kick his ass Merrick...hahaha
