We could probably get as many as 10 people in on it, depending on how large the raft is.. 6 outside, 4 inside.. Maybe a couple people just flying video.. We need some fast fallers outside to help stabilize the raft....and we would need to designate the poor schmuck, errr, I mean lucky soul that gets to deploy with the raft.. I did it once - it's somebody else's turn.. Do they usually have people camping at the DZ? I think that's what I'd plan on doing Sat night.. Do they have some pretty good sized landing areas? With the new canopy I have coming, I think I'll be eating up lots of ground my first 50 jumps or so.. On the bright side, I'll be one of the first on the ground - so everybody gets to follow my landing pattern!@# I'll be sure to downwind it a time or to - just for fun.. And yes, they allow camping on the dropzone. You'll be sure to get up early, since the other planes on the airport start flying at sunrise!! We gotta try to steal Falconboy's golf cart again this time. I didn't get a chance to while I was at Quincy...I did see him though, and our favorite videographer too. Yikes! I am a fast faller, so maybe I should be on the outside of the raft instead of inside? I sliced up my hands pretty bad hanging on to it during deployment.. I should've known not to do it with a fast opening canopy.. About a year ago, I saw a guy deploy with the raft in his hands, lost control of it, and somehow it ended up in the lines of his main, which caused a very interesting spin, and he had to chop.. I wish I had been jumping a camera then, it would've made great video.. PhreeZone 20 #30 August 17, 2001 You guys need to do what I do with the rafts... back slide about 5-10 feet and dump while the rest of the out side group tracks.. while the people in the raft are rolling out you can spiral down to it.... If got 4 docks on the raft before. Just land out with it and there is no chance of it hurting you on deployment. It helps to have a pilot who can spot for a raft.... We had on who could put the raft in the 50 foot pea pit on every jump....Damn I miss Dewey.....Do I HAVE to do another raft dive??? Definitely wouldn't be what I might fly out if it all works out. A 182 is great if you want to haul 4 real people. 'course, if you had some friends that wanted to come along then it might be feasible. To give you an idea, Broken Eagle, Dead Bird, and I all flew up to Summerfest and then down to WFFC and back. Split 3 ways the bill was about $300/each for this trip of approximately 1400 miles (1200 nm).
