Richmond Boogie

Recommended Posts

I haven't been around Richmond much lately, but I am definitely looking forward to "THE" Boogie. First, I'd like to start a thread dealing with anything Richmond related. So if you have anything to say, start here! Second, I'd like to know who wants to take advantage of the extra sleeping space I will have in my van during the boogie! Terms are negotiable. :)

Hey FR.....I'll surely be at Richmond from Wed-Sun. That is gonna be a blast man. Do you normally jump there?? If so, does everyone there call you "fallrate"??
Eitherway, I am gonna be there this coming weekend, the week of The Boogie and then the following weekend. I am going to be demoing canopies during the boogie, so that should be a blast. See you out there!!

The best time you can have with your clothes on.... and then again, there is nakedness too, so you can have fun no matter what. :) I know Mountainman is setting up a dz.com area at the boogie so we can all get together a finally meet. I say we do a DZ.com jump. I am SURE we can at least get a 4 way. :)

So, I got my little pamphlet in the mail about Richmond, and it mentioned tons of fun fun organizers. Are there many organizers for low-time skydivers such as myself?
Also, is it really starting this Sunday? That would rock if it did! I could go Sunday, go back to school during the week, and then go back for more fun stuff Friday!

I will make a thread closer to boogie time about where and when we will meet

Well I will try to get there to meet some of you. I was planning on being in Ohio that weekend so maybe I can spend one of my days in Richmond. I'd really like to meet you mountainman.
I've been bad, I need a spanking:$

I wouldn't mind showing up for a day or two, but gimme some way to make it worth the $30 registration!

Allow me to answer your question with another post by someone you know....:)

I am pretty sure there will be plenty of organizing for us low-timers. I only have 16 now and will have maybe 20 by boogie time. From what I hear, there will be plenty for everyone.

I think it starts on Wednesday (next week) and then goes until the following Tuesday. However, you can always go jump on Sunday anyway and get your juices flowing early.:)--------------

Hello all! It's time again, for the most fun you can have with your clothes on!
Richmond "THE" Boogie 2001 - our 14th year!!
Check out below to see just what we have in store for this year...
AIRCRAFT: 2 Super Otters, 2 Grand Caravans, Mike Mullins Super King Air, Doc Linden's DC-3, Bell 220 Helicopter, 2nd jet type heli, including standby aircraft (king air, caravan).
ORGANIZERS: Jerry Bird, Roger Nelson, BoXman, Billy Weber, Tanya Hannington, Scott Fritz, John T, Rook Nelson, Missy Nelson, Orly King, Steve Utter and more.
SPECIALTY ORGANIZERS/COACHES: Keith Snyder from Surf Flite available for you at no charge, Jari Kuosma from BirdMan... also no charge, Orly King available for freefly coaching. Come try a new discipline, they have loaner boards, wingsuits, etc!
PARTIES: 4 nights of live music, a different venue for each night! Free hog roast on Saturday night, free beer and bonfire every night! Thursday night will feature Dan Spencer, vocalist with acoustic 12 string, Friday night will feature the band, "By Divine Right", Saturday night will be featuring rock & roll blues band, the Dave Chisom Band, and Sunday will host an Elvis show.
EQUIPMENT VENDORS: ParaQuip and Skydivers Unite for Safety will be hosting a huge vendor display in the Quonset hut with every imaginable vendor in skydiving! Prices on all equipment at their lowest ever! Exclusive to participants of Richmond "THE" Boogie!
BOOGIE FILM: It's official, New Tribe Entertainment, producer of "Worthless Eye Candy" and "The Clouds Edge", will be producing our video this year with freefly footage from Steve Utter and RW footage from Mike McGowan... all videographers are encouraged to donate footage... get your name on the credits!
SPECIAL CAMPING AREA: Does the party go a little too late for you? Do you just want to lay back and relax after a long day jumping... under some shade maybe? The Tarum Shrine Club (located 1 mile from the airport) has opened their private resort area for skydivers only during the boogie. They are planning to have cookouts and will open their private bar for Friday and Saturday night. The camping area is lightly wooded, has showers, toilets, and a pool! They will also be running a shuttle to and from the airport through out the day during the weekend for those that would like a quick dip in the pool! Be sure to ask at Manifest for details!
Well... I am a little busy right now, and can't really remember everything, so if I forgot someone or something... it'll be here when you get here! :-)
FYI: Our boogie flyer that is normally mailed 1 month prior to the event was botched up quite a bit by our printers and after switching printers we were able to send out flyers this past week... it's a little late... but it's better than never! If you don't receive your flyer, we apologize, however USPA does not sell the mailing list any longer so we had to purchase one from Skydiving!
If you have any questions, please email us or call 1 (888) 234-JUMP!
See you all there!
Sincerely,
Jaime Praeter

just be there
to clarify:
-$18.50/jump
-organizers for all levels - just don't be shy
-no raft dives - well, you can try, but no tailgate
-plenty of fast aircraft, see the previous post
-minimun A license
-Steve'O' is doing the video, if you haven't seen Cloud's Edge, get it, IT's Awesome!! SteveO is arguably the best camera flyer/editor/producer of skydiving videos I've ever scene.
-$30 registration is worth the party, trust me
-and it's Richmond INDIANA, not virginia (between Indianapolis, Dayton and Cincinnatiish)
i'll be there, what else do you need? ;)
