lazerq3 0 #1 August 23, 2001 I know this may sound wierd but I just recenlty saw pictures of my canopy in the air (with me underneath) and reaized the color skeem. 21 jumps on the thing and I never really realized what it looked like in the air. I mean when I deploy it, the only thing I'm looking for is a nice square chute with no problems. Not what colors it is. Then when I pack it I make sure I start with purple, grab pink when counting the 5th (center ) cell ,and end with purple. Other than that I really never looked at the color combination. Now that I've seen it , its kinda perty!! Any way just thought I'd share my idiocies!jason
mountainman 0 #2 August 23, 2001 I have never thought about that either. I guess I'm more concerned that it's open and will turn/flare. --------------Drop on in...leave a message
Tee 0 #3 August 24, 2001 Even when you do notice the colors while under canopy, it just never looks the same as in the pics. I'm always teased that I have an "Barbie" canopy and I never thought it looked too bad until I saw a pic of it.....have you ever eaten those Rocket popsicles (the ones that are blue-white-pink-white-blue-white-pink-white-blue)...yup...that's my canopy!!! Hush...I got it used! Tee
lazerq3 0 #4 August 24, 2001 Hey tee my freind at the DZ has a "rocket pop" canopy. I think it looks alright. Maybe you outta sell that name to a few canopy companies......."introducing Icarus's newest canopy..... the GEM 120 in ROCKET POP color's" I'm tellig ya theres some money to be made here!!jason

Aviatrr 0 #6 August 24, 2001 I don't think I've ever seen a picture of myself under canopy.. I've got plenty of video of me in freefall, but not under canopy.. I guess I'll have to give my video camera to somebody on the ground, do a hop&pop, and have 'em get my canopy flight on video.. Maybe I'll get some over Labor Day weekend.. I'm going down to Sebastian for a beginner CReW camp with the USA CRW team.. Mike

Yea, you definitely have a point....but all of the pansies I jump with are afraid to get anywhere near anybody else under canopy.. At the CReW camp I won't even be under my own canopy, either....it'll be a demo PD Lightning.. Maybe I'll be able to get one of the other CReW guys to do some close up flying with me under my Crossfire, but I don't know how the speeds/descent rates will compare.. A Crossfire at 1.5 to a Lightning at 1.3.. If nothing else, we can just keep flying head on several times for some good video.. Mike

DZBone 0 #10 August 24, 2001 I'll bet some of the CRW guys will have "normal" canopies with them as well, or any of the video guys would prolly be cool w/it, if they knew you weren't going to hose them.
Aviatrr 0 #11 August 24, 2001 Quote I am glad you have more jumps than me!! The only that will happen is not enough seperation!! If it's well planned out, and both pilots are good canopy flyers, it isn't any more dangerous than flying in the pattern with other canopies.. I've got some video of a Twin Otter coming head on and passing about 100ft off my left side.. The pilot and myself pre-arranged it, and I dumped high so there would be no other canopies nearby.. It looks pretty damn cool on video.. After he passed, I made an immediate left turn to keep him in frame, and flew into the wake....whoops! That was an interesting few seconds watching the canopy do its funky dance..Mike
