RW is Bad luck!

Recommended Posts

Just kidding dont want to get flamed. I actually did an RW jump on Sunday. It was a 3 way and we only turned 2 or 3 points cause 1 of my illustrious 3 was all over the sky (not me of course) I finally found someone I can fly on my belly with and relax. I dont have to spend all my time hugging the beach ball! I was a little hung over from the festivities Saturday night so my reflexes werent razor sharp. Well we get to 4 grand and track. I roll to make sure the less experienced jumper was not tracking near me. I dump and immediately feel the bag twist as it comes off my back! I say OK no big deal. I grab the risers and watch the canopy inflate. I wasn't worried because it's a PD 190 that is normally pretty stable even with a twist or two. Loaded 1.28:1. Yep it comes out of the bag and inflates, twisted at least once but it's open. I think I shifted my weight to start the process of getting the twists out and the canopy dove right and starting trying to spin me up! I was thinking to myself DAMIITT! This is starting to look like one of those cut away videos! Luckily I was able to counteract it and got out of the twists. See, RW is bad luck!
Here's a question for the Sky Gods. Is it possible to fly the twists out before the canopy inflates? By either turning your body by inducing a turn with your feet or using the risers to turn the canopy as it is opening? Obviously this is for the brave at heart and not for anyone with just a couple jumps under their belt. (disclaimer)
