wingnut 0 #32 August 31, 2001 okay here are the details.........well i got all fitted out in my flight suit and "G" suit and then went for a little briefing by the pilot.... he has 28 skydives himself so we had something to talk about for like 2 minutes before i relized he was a pilot and the enemy.....(j/k) then we went over and got a ride to the plane and took off. it was wierd i have sat in the cockpit of an f-16 many many times before but this time i had an armed ejection seat under me, it was just wierd. we trotled to ab and started rolling down the runway. when he went to ab it wasn't a kick in the pants but a nice gentle ease into it. we took off and headed for the big meteor crater out in az (i think that's where it is) and saw lake powel and lake meade and the grand canyon. then we flew through monument valley and around all these big rock formations. it was so cool. he would roll the plane at about a 60 deg. angle turning around the rocks and it was like we were flying a maze through them. then he let me fly to lake powel and it was wierd. cruzing at 13,000 msl and i had the stick. if you move the f-16 stick from side to side it only moves like 1/8 an inch, so the lightest touch makes it move. it took a while to get used to it. i got to do snap barrel rolls with abrupt stops and tturns and such it was cool. a g-suit squezzes the hell out of your legs when you pull g's. it was wierd. i had my barf bag ready the whole time but never had to use it. i did feal like i was going to get sick a few times but that was when we were just crusing from one place to the other. i undid my mask(which was digging into my nose and hurt) and it sorta reminded myself of the scene in top gun at the very begining where the one guy freaks out and undoes him mask, but i wasn't freaked out though just a little qeesy.... all in all the ride was kick ass. and i dd get to do a max climb.... we went vertical to 14,000 and sorta did the thing were the pilot is going vertical but rolls the plane so we go up and around at the same time it was cool. flew over lake meade at 1,000 feet and doing 400 mph...... the little boats down there sure did look small..... and i was thinking of all of you an this flight....when we took off and were climbing to flight level one seven we passed 13,000ft and i though of yelling door but though the pilot might think i'm nuts.....so i didn''t......."up my noooossseee"- wingnut, at first euro dz.com boogie
