a sense of pride

Recommended Posts

In my travels yesterday, I drove past an Army Reserve or some kind of military place. Anyway, outside I saw about 30 men dressed in uniform standing around a flag pole. I have no idea what they were doing, but just seeing them filled me with a sense of pride. I almost started crying thinking that there are men (and women) in this country willing to fight for my freedom. I have so much respect for the military, knowing that they are willing to fight and possibly die for this country. It's hard to put into words but I just felt I had to share my feelings.
....and then I saw his foot and knew I had to make him mine:)

I know what you mean. I drove about an hour and a half north this weekend to go to a party and on the way up it seemed like every overpass had a flag hanging from it. I saw flags on poles in the medium, flags on cars, and flags draped across rooftops of houses. I felt guilty that I didn't have one. I also saw 5 C-130's overhead, and saw several army trucks on the freeway. I didn't know where they were going, but I couldn't help but feel how scared the people aboard them must be right now. One of my brother's best friends is on a Navy ship right now off the New York coast. I bet he's scared too. It's so easy to think "Let's go kick the terrorists' ass!" when you're sitting safe at home in front of a computer, but what if you're one of the people that's supposed to go over there and do it? The bastards that attacked us are going to pay dearly, without a doubt. I just hope that the cost isn't too high.

I wish more people would remember that.
