Best Boogies

Recommended Posts

What are some of the best boogies in the country? Ive heard of Quincy, but what are the other better ones that bring together alot of skydivers and a variety of aircraft? I am especially interested in high altitude jumps.
Also, what dropzones usually have high altitude jumps on a regular baisis?

Richmond "THE" Boogie is in my opinion the best. Lots of airplanes, lots of people (between 900-1500 depending), but still a smallish freindly feel. It starts the wednesday before labor day and goes on thru the holiday.
Yes, maybe I am biased since Richmond (Indiana) is my home DZ, but ask anyone (except a certain USPA official who insisted on getting kicked out for bad behavior) and they will tell you it ROCKS!

My vote is for Summerfest. Skydive Chicago did a great job for its first real boogie this year. Limited plane selection (3 Supper otters, 1 twin otter, 1 DC3, 1 Bell 222 Chopper) but it was great. Getting on loads with great organizers was as easy as walking up to them and saying "Wantta jump?"
Be safe, be smooth, be fast..... and most importantly.... be phree :)

Last year 10 friends from the DZ rented and RV and drove from Houston to Iowa for the Couch Freaks boogie. Alot of friends had scattered all over the country and that seemed like a good point to meet. It was a blast. During the day, it was Jump and Pack and Jump and pack. Every Night was a massive party. They had an old Milk Truck keeping the beer cold with taps on the outside. The showers had a "spinning" men and womens sign. Manifest ran smooth, weather was great. Polyester Party, camp sights with great themes and of course, couches everywhere.
I didn't make the trip this year, but my slot on the RV filled fast. Everyone had a great time. I would highly recommend it. Labor Day Weekend Fort Dodge, Iowa.

well i've only been to one "boogie" and is was really small, but in my opinion boogies have to change every year. ya just don't get the same people at em and it changes the "feel" of things. i think that "the best boogie" would have to be only viable in the past tense and then from only a single perspective. the best one is where you had the best time and that's all ya can say really.

"up my noooossseee"- wingnut, at first euro dz.com boogie

As the token North American living in Europe, I'll have to say Espace Boogie.... Its not hard core partying at night (allthough there definatly is some action), but what I want in a boogie is good skydiving from big planes.... and usulally, they are big (this year was a bit of a let down with no Antonov and no turbine DC3). I would pick it over Quincy...
And the skydiving is QUALITY..... but you should have a good level of proficiency to come ...
And you freaks should like it too....Some of the biggest FF formations I've seen....
Plus: French food...... mmmmmmmmmm
So if you want to take a Europeam holiday, remember Espace....
