There's 2 main ways of getting your A licence - you can do a static line course which involves less money but takes a bit longer to do. Or there's AFF which most people do now where you jump from Max altitude with 2 instructors holding onto you to correct your body position etc. Talk to your local DZ to find out more or there's plenty of stuff on this great website. Tandem(IAD), Static line, or (my choice) AFF.
