WTC incident triggers safety idea

Recommended Posts

Dear all:
The WTC incident was indeed heartbreaking. Especially the sight of people jumping off the tall bulding and plunged to the ground.
I was thinking, today buildings have gone at magnitudes of hundreds storeys. Hence, no matter under what circumstances, staircase is never the safest way of escape. The easiest and fastest way is perhaps to jump off the window.
Then I think that could there be a new safety means of providing a easy-to-use, idiot-trigger parachute system that for such purpose. At least with a parachute, there is a chance of survivor during the escape. Without a chute, the chance is just 0.
This safety system doesn't only applies to occupancts of high-rise buidling. Think for airplanes. We already have a safety boyancy vest. What about a safety parachute added to? In case of emergency, while jumping off the plane, there still could be a chance of survival.
What about for those who has to work hanging outside the high-rise floors. This safety system could benefit them too.
One question left then, it obvious would cost a lot to build such parachute for this safety system. But how is the justification of cost vs human life. No compare!
Just my 2 cents thoughts from the recent incident.
Cheers,
Wanni

It's actually not a new idea at all. Some guy tried to patent the idea a hundred years ago
Then, I saw these two guys swoopin across the pond, and I was like 'weeeeeee!!!!'

Build something that is "idiot proof", and guaranteed, a bigger idiot will come along and prove you wrong..
