mountainman 0 #2 September 28, 2001 I am having it too. I am on T1 here at school and then cable at home and it still takes FOREVER. But, I think one reason is that....uh.....I really dont know. I thought someone said that it is due to the high traffic, but some slow times there are only like 4 people on here. I dont know man.--------------Richmond Boogie pics... PhreeZone 20 #3 September 28, 2001 It probally due more to the fact that this website is actually shareing server sapce with a couple of other sites. All those sites are using the same CPU so while this site might not have lots of people on it, another site on the same server might be over whelmed with traffic. Plus every time someone does a search or looks at any post they are using a bit of the CPU to search through th SQL database to pull up the records that were requested. Its not so much an issue of bandwidth as it is CPU and memory. If you want the site to stay fast then we all need to help out on here to eliminate the flaming posts and help Sangiro to move the site to his new server. It takes lots of money to run this site so we all might need to pitch in and help defer the costs of the server.Just one geeks view of the website problem........Be safe, be smooth, be fast..... and most importantly.... be phree
 mountainman 0 #4 September 28, 2001 Why did it all of a sudden get slow then?? Was it on a dedicated before then get moved to a shared?? I remember just a month or two ago when it was fast as ever. Just curious.--------------Richmond Boogie pics... The other websites might have experienced a surge in growth like this one did too. With multiple SQL databases the server would be pretty busy just searching the databaes and not sending webinfo. A few months ago is when Sangrio switched versions of the bullitin board software too. The software had compressed databases that were optimized for the new software. Thoses databases are no longer running at max capicity now. Lots of little things add up to big problems.Be safe, be smooth, be fast..... and most importantly.... be phree
 mountainman 0 #6 September 28, 2001 Ahh....well, you would certainly know more than I would about it!!
