freaksister 0 #1 October 4, 2001 Hey everyone...Tomorrow is drawing nearer...the time when I can go jump jump jump! But my mom wants to go...the last time she went to the dz with me was in February...it was OK I guess...but last year she went ALL the time and looked over my shoulder constantly, always asking the people I jumped with if I did what I supposed to, etc. I had to ask her to stop coming to the dz because it got so bad. Plus, there's this guy (whuffo) she likes who lives in Dallas and she wants to see him while we're there...only problem is that she's married and hasn't told him! Like I want to entertain them too! SIGH...I guess I'm just venting my fears that mom will drive me crazy...if she would do a tandem it would be cooler...but she's afraid I can handle two days with her, I must keep telling myself that!!! You can do it, you can do it! And I'll be hitting zeros on my first number of the score-keeping system this weekend...The Freak KittyI lust for the ultimate rush... Tee 0 #2 October 4, 2001 Hi Sis. I am pretty lucky because my parents fit right in out at the dz and I don't have to act any differently when they are around from when they are not. (they have learned over the years to just shake their heads and laugh! )But I do understand the need to just have you own little sanctuary at the dz away from everything "whuffo" and to have something that is just for you and your skydiving family. I have friends from work and other non-jumping friends that want to come out to the dz and just hang out but swear they will never jump. I keep telling most of them, unless you are coming out to do a jump or have the slightest interest in skydiving then don't come. Almost every ounce of conversation is skydiving related and I know certain friends would sit on the sidelines and feel out of place, even if you try to keep them in on the conversation.Don't have any advice but I hope the weekend works out for you. I already told mom I'm staying at the dz...because I get drunk and don't want to drive back to a motel. So she's taking the car each night and driving to a motel or something. If so I'm 2:0:0 but drank an 18pak with some friends.. Let me know because with the weather the way it is and my left leg in a brace. I'm not jumping any way unless I just HAVE to on Sunday!! About the brace, well I had a very hard crosswind landing back on Sept 22 my lvl 11 AFP jump. Kinda hurt a bit nothing big to me at the time. Went back out last weekend and finished my AFP and did 2 non-student jumps bought beer and ect... Then Monday morning my knee we hurting again. As it has been since Sept 22. Soooooooooo I called the bone doc and went to see him.. long story short I'm in a knee imobilizer for 2 weeks.. and was grounded. My dad asks me for any major event (birthday, Christmas, President's Day...) to quit jumping. The first time he came to watch me, he saw me walking back covered in mud from my first corn landing (we've got a lot of it in Indiana...it's bound to happen.) The second time, him and my mom pulled up just in time to see the CASA take off; and a few minutes later, they saw some dude in my canopy and my first cutaway. He kept asking me all day long "Are you sure you want to jump again?" I basically advised him not to watch me jump anymore (he is also uneasy since everybody at my dz makes sexual innuendos and invite me out to drink.) Oh well; I just figure that the dz is my place to get away from the over-protective parent thing. Let me know how it goes with your mom!"To alcohol!
