Hook knife--Federal offence!?
Having a hook knife attached to your rig, and then bringing it on board a commercial flight as carry on, may now be a Federal offence!?

What else would fit in it?? You certainly couldn't slit anyone's throat with my hook knife!!!!

wanna bet? my hook knife could be a formitable weapon if you just turn the blades around -- it only takes 2 screws.... my hook knives got checked in luggage (rigs on board though)!!!

Why do you sound so surprised? Put it in a checked bag and deal with it. If you don't put it in a bag then be prepared to have it confiscated at the X-ray machine.
Given recent events it seems a little petty to whine about not being able to take a hook knife on a commercial flight.
I'm a little surprised that so many people have managed to get a rig on board. I'm not suggesting that anything evil could be done with a rig, but it probably doesn't exactly inspire confidence in those who are already nervous about flying.

Before I get flamed,I know its the movies and all but heres my question, on the movie DROPZONE the bad guys where able to get on the plane with their rigs on because they where made of all fabric. Even the three ring was a high tech strong type of fabric. Do these rigs really exist or is it possible to make these. NOt that I'm looking, just wondering in case all you FBI guys are out their checking up on us skydivers

possible yes - practical, no... why bother when you can carry the rig on no problems?
