skybytch 273 #1 October 30, 2001 So I check the mail on Saturday. In it I find an envelope from Providian. The envelope contained a non-secured Visa card.... with MY NAME ON IT! This is truly frightening. I haven't had one of those in nearly 10 years, for a very good reason (actually for over 3000 good reasons - the $3000+ I didn't pay on the two cards I used to have). What, are these people insane??? Giving ME a credit card...I've had it for 72 hours now and I still haven't used it. Too bad it's only got a $500 limit, I'd have already ordered my new gear! pull and flare, lisa
Zennie 0 #2 October 30, 2001 So they mjust mailed you a Visa card unsolicited? Man they're getting bold.In my former life as an attorney it never ceased to amaze me how people would walk into the hallway after being just discharged in Bankruptcy and they'd immediately be hit up by people offering them a brand new credit card. First few times I just stood there slack jawed..."Wear the grudge like a crown. Desperate to control. Unable to forgive. And we're sinking deeper." PhreeZone 20 #3 October 30, 2001 Just as scary, I saw a little note on this months last Visa bill. They decided to give me another credit increase. I've now got enough of a limit, I can get me a new canopy and reserve. BTW... Got any D-Box's in stock for a PC-110? This extra credit limit needs spent !!!!A rainy day at the DZ is better then a Sunny day at work
AggieDave 6 #4 October 30, 2001 Walking across campus, people do almost anything to get people to signup for Credit Cards. They give away a ton of T-shirts, shot glasses and such, though it's a cool way to get a ton of swag, it gets annoying.AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u. I was sitting by myself in the student Union, eating my lunch, when this really hot girl just sat down across from me. Since this happens to me, ummm, never, I got suspicious right away. She told me that she was in a class that was having a competition with another class to see who could get the most applications, and the class that won would get cash. When I asked her just what class gave away cash for getting students to sign up for credit cards, she took about 10 seconds to come up with a b.s. answer ("uhhh, a business class that I'm taking..."), then gave up and left. I told one of my friends who works there about it, and it turns out that some guy was hiring attractive girls to go around campus getting guys to sign up for credit cards. The sad thing is, it probably worked more often than it failed.--Brian

skreamer 1 #8 October 31, 2001 lolI can top that Lisa. Couple of months ago, I'd maxed out my credit card. So I got a personal loan from the bank at a lower interest rate to cover my credit card. But then instead I took that money and went on holiday to Florida and used it to pay for my new rig and a couple of jumps. Came back to London with visa still maxed out, a personal loan to pay off as well and then found myself unemployed as of a month ago.....hahahahaha - shit I better get a new job soon or I will be well and truly fucked! (but I did make 6 kickass skydives last weekend! )/s
