RemiAndKaren 0 #2 November 15, 2001 post the question in the gear forum!: some riggers dont spend much time in this oen and only read posts on the others...but...It was made by... yes, you guessed it.... Glidepath... the company had to close down and re-open under a new name/company after the "Nova incidents"... arent they called North American something or another now???Are you sure its a reserve? My wife jumped one before as her main (it may well be a reserve too... just not sure)RemiMuff

RemiAndKaren 0 #4 November 15, 2001 no sweat ! you'll just get more informed feedback in the gear forum (as opposed to know-it-alls like me who actually dont even know f*ck all... but rather f*ck nothing!)RemiMuff
flyboy62000 0 #5 November 15, 2001 there is nothing wrong with the firelite reserve. It is made by glidepath which is now flight concepts (www.flightconcepts.com). flight concepts makes the firelite, maverick, fury, and sharpchuter reserves. they are decent reserve canopies and of course are tso'd. While I prefer to have a Raven or PD reserve in my rig, there is nothing wrong with the firelite. It will do it's job and save your butt. Hope the info helps.Blue Skies,Adam
skybytch 273 #6 November 15, 2001 As long as your rigger says it's airworthy there's nothing wrong with the Firelite as a reserve, just don't overload it. If it was built by Glide Path, it was built back when people didn't overload reserves quite like they do today - I'd keep the wingloading real close to 1.0 lbs suspended/sq. ft. or less.pull and flare, lisa
Brokeneagle 0 #7 November 16, 2001 I have a Firelite 175 as my reserve; bought it new 5 1/2 years ago; haven't had to test-drive it yet. The reason I bought one is that when I put this rig together, I wanted a new reserve, not a used one, and the Firelite was one of the few affordable and dependable reserves available per a rigger friend of mine... I have had a problem only with Flight Concepts' owner; I paid cash for mine up front- I was going on my first jumping road trip, and made certain to let the owner know I needed it for this very purpose- but not only was it NOT ready at the promised delivery time, but two weeks later, the owner finally admitted putting my canopy order behind those of teams he was supplying nationally and overseas. I requested a loaner rig to take on my cross-country trip- he finally and bad-temperedly gave me one, but the hassle when I returned to pick up my pre-paid for canopy a week later was amazing-- I won't buy from him again. As for the Firelite, my adopted sister has one for her reserve as well, and has ridden it down- she has had no problems with it; reported it flew well, for all that it is F-111 material.Brokeneagle.Brokeneagle.
