PalmettoTiger 1 #1 November 17, 2001 I know I'm not the only one here who lives for college football season. I'll kick off (see? a pun! ha ha funny! *smack*) the celebration by announcing that this afternoon, the mighty SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS hosted Pickens A&M, sometimes referred to as Clemson (but pronounced "Clempson" by their fans), in The House That Lou Is Building. Although I was unable to attend, I listened to chunks of the game via a streaming radio broadcast, and I'm sure everyone in my dorm was puzzled by the occasional shout of GO COCKS!! Or not, because I've been known to bellow that across the courtyard whenever I see other students from South Carolina. But anyway, USC (no, not that pathetic excuse for a PAC-10 cheerleading squad) won 20-15, and the game wasn't as close as the score indicates. The victory ensures a bowl game for us in some sunny climate on January 1st, with the Citrus Bowl a strong possibility. If that happens, I may be able to break away from the family long enough to join in the tail end of the Collegiate Championships festivites. awwww yeah! freeflir29 0 #4 November 17, 2001 I just don't watch sports much so it's kind of hard for me to understand this fascination/dedication that people show to it. I don't get all that excited over other people's accomplishments. If thats what ya wanna spend your time on.............Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster- Sun Tzu
PalmettoTiger 1 #5 November 17, 2001 I can understand that. Wait, no, I can't. I can understand not following some sports, but if you can't have fun when there are 85,000 like-minded folks roaring their enthusiasm, you must be ... um... a singular person.Hey, and if you're implying that I shoulda been skydiving today... you're right. But I've grounded myself until I can pull my grades up.
PLFKING 4 #6 November 17, 2001 Hey Dan....Don't mind Clay....he's just working on his "grumpy, surly, radical old man" routine in preparation for his later years...I had to laugh at the "Go Cocks" statement....a lady I work with went to USC, and was a member of the scuba-diving club there (she's even made a tandem jump). She said she used to get very strange looks in reaction to the club's bumper sticker -- "Wet 'Cocks Go Deeper".......And the ultimate rivalry game isn't 'til next Saturday, when Ohio State will travel to Ann Arbor and the Big House to get their Buckeye asses pounded into the turf yet again.......GO BLUE !!!Donps....did you see the end of the Michigan-Wisconsin game today ? Unbelievable.........

SkymonkeyONE 4 #10 November 18, 2001 I was very saddened to watch my Auburn Tigers get smacked around by the very-lame Crimson Tide, and on sacred ground no less! (Jordan Hare Stadium). 'tiss a sad day.Not sure if it's this way where you guys are from, but in the state of Alabama it's one way or the other....period. My favorite teams are Auburn and ANYONE playing The Tide. AggieDave 6 #11 November 18, 2001 A quick note:Beat The Hell Outta t.u.! Hey! WHOOP!GIG'EM AGGIES! Whoop! I love college football, anymore I can't even stand to watch the NFL. There has to be something said about the Big 12, the football religion is alive and strong with us. Where else would you have over 90,000 fans (mostly Aggies) pack themselves into an outdoor stadium to watch football? Singing, doing yells, standing for the entire game...AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u.
