Staso 0 #1 November 20, 2001 Hi there !I'm looking for speed dives info. Advises, web links, etc. It looks like I do something wrong or don't dosomething I should - I stuck with the speed just above 200 mph. My body position is pretty simple -legs straight, arms straight and next to my body, head down. There is something that holds me fromgoing faster. Any suggestions ?Stan,D-24665

chickenhawk420 0 #6 November 20, 2001 don't wanna do a clinton but whats the highest obtainable speed from anywhere between 14k and 35k you can get in a freefly headdown. Ive heard of 300 but i can't remember if it was kph or mph. I do remember reading about crazy speeds when kittinger jumped from 102'800 feet but he was belly down and had a steadying pilot chute (begins with dro.... drouge?). rooftops and sunsets

chickenhawk420 0 #8 November 20, 2001 shit thats some speed, mind you after hot, hot curry i normally do that speed leaving the toilet seat :) So whats your personal best?
mnischalke 0 #9 November 20, 2001 Great site!! 475kph=a little less than 300mphI am working on something to surpass that. With a greater ballistic coefficient, a helmet like the ones the coneheads used in their movie--except smooth and high-heat laquered--should get you up to about 350. I am going to the basement now...mike
chickenhawk420 0 #10 November 20, 2001 Yeah i think i might of seen those, like the speed downhill skiing helmets that sort of mold into the neck and back? The first person to break the sound barrier in a new record from today onwards gets a case of beer of their choice (just not fuckin light beer, i don't do light beer okay, makin me feel ill and disgusted just thinkin about it) and that offer stands from now till i die, infact make it two. BTW this is the rare occasion when im actually serious so send in the proof, ill be arround somewhere and you have my word ill buy two crates. Hows that? scottbre 0 #11 November 20, 2001 Shave off all of your hair and do the jump wearing only a pair of speedos (and your chute of course).Hey, it works for swimmers.Scott"Can't keep my mind from the circling sky. RemiAndKaren 0 #12 November 21, 2001 I think the speeds posted on the competition results are averaged over a certain distance (not top speed). And as far as I remember from reading up the competition, you're not allowed to use funky shaped helmets to reduce your drag (just those "gimpy" looking latex covered jumpsuits...) I know one of the competitor in the league from the UK lurks here and post regularly on uk.rec.skydiving You may want to post there if you want some advice and more links.RemiMuff
