AggieDave 6 #1 November 25, 2001 An idea for the board, if possible: Have personal chat rooms available for people all the time, to use for personal chatting, i.e. only between two people. It would be similar to using AIM to talk to someone. Lets say, someone is online, you could send a pop-up requesting chat and they can accept or deny it. This would be real-time, as opposed to the private message system already in place. This is similar to some of the chat/talk options on old BBSes (for anyone who was a computer person back in "Old Army").AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u. SkymonkeyONE 4 #4 November 25, 2001 Dave, my brother! The truly in-tune poster would have printed out the thread where we all gave our instant messenger handles. Not sure about you, but everytime I sign on I get IM'd by my fellow Dropzone.com junkies.Sincerely,C.Blue, esquireKing of all SkymonkeysMy webpage HERE

PhreeZone 20 #7 November 25, 2001 We were split about 50/50 Aim/MSN....... whats the MSN one Jess? I'm not sure what to put here right now.....
AggieDave 6 #8 November 25, 2001 QuoteWe were split about 50/50 Aim/MSNIt's reasons like that, that I suggested the chatting options. Furthermore, some people use ICQ, Pow-Wow, or any one of the other dozens of chatting software titles available. To further that point, not all of the people on the forum use similar operating systems, some of the systems don't necissarily support some of the other chatting clients that are popular. A web based chat is fairly universial. AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u.

PhreeZone 20 #10 November 25, 2001 Slappies got that running on his site, but no one ever takes advantage of it. Another problem with stuff like web pased chat is some companies, mine included, block it since most of the time it relys on Java (potentially dangerous code) or IRC (Hackers playground). I've personally blocked IRC connections at work to prevent stuff like that from happening.I'm not sure what to put here right now.....

SkymonkeyONE 4 #12 November 26, 2001 Yeah. at work (where I do 99% of my posting and general loafing about), I cannot access any Java or IRC-based pages or chat. As the site is now on it's own server, why can't we just have the Happy Hour chat back open, but on a continual basis? Enquiring minds want to know.ChuckMy webpage HERE
AggieDave 6 #13 November 26, 2001 I was suggesting a personal chat, since I thought that a full time all out chat would drop the number of posts in the forum. Which I didn't want to happen.AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u.
