Personal Chat

Recommended Posts

An idea for the board, if possible: Have personal chat rooms available for people all the time, to use for personal chatting, i.e. only between two people. It would be similar to using AIM to talk to someone. Lets say, someone is online, you could send a pop-up requesting chat and they can accept or deny it. This would be real-time, as opposed to the private message system already in place.
This is similar to some of the chat/talk options on old BBSes (for anyone who was a computer person back in "Old Army").

We were split about 50/50 Aim/MSN

It's reasons like that, that I suggested the chatting options. Furthermore, some people use ICQ, Pow-Wow, or any one of the other dozens of chatting software titles available. To further that point, not all of the people on the forum use similar operating systems, some of the systems don't necissarily support some of the other chatting clients that are popular. A web based chat is fairly universial. :)AggieDave '02

Slappies got that running on his site, but no one ever takes advantage of it. Another problem with stuff like web pased chat is some companies, mine included, block it since most of the time it relys on Java (potentially dangerous code) or IRC (Hackers playground). I've personally blocked IRC connections at work to prevent stuff like that from happening.
I'm not sure what to put here right now.....
