E150 0 #1 November 27, 2001 Hey, Im off to Elsinore for two weeks in December (yiiiipeeeeee).I need to take out some insurace. Last year I used Harrison Beaumont. But, I have heard that their prices have gone right up. Does anyone know of a company that provides skydiving insurance at a good price????Any help will be appreciated. Thanks :)
3fLiEr 0 #2 November 27, 2001 Harrison Beaumont is the best one - they are much cheaper than a non-specialist company (I got quoted £400 per jump by one company)Dont moan about a few quid ....... you tight arsed bitch!BSBDM
E150 0 #3 November 27, 2001 Woooow - thats hefty. Tescos dont do skydive insurance, it is considered an unescessary risk!
skreamer 1 #4 November 27, 2001 Last I heard H&B did a comprehensive package (medical, loss, theft etc) for £117 for the year - I don't think anybody else can match that./s(responsible for toothpaste up wingi's nose at first euro dz.com boogie)

E150 0 #6 November 27, 2001 That was the one (someone previously suggested). I think they might be a bit cheaper. ThanksOh and is the general advice - 'Get your rig insured', wether or not your going abroad??? Unless of course the rig is nto worth insuring.
RemiAndKaren 0 #7 November 27, 2001 For the rig, if you have contents insurance, it SHOULD be covered (but check with your policy)RemiMuff

E150 0 #9 November 27, 2001 OK - well it was worth a go. HB seems to be the best and worth a few extra notes!Cheers
nacmacfeegle 0 #10 November 27, 2001 Hi E,Following from the dec99 issue of the mag, so I don't know how up to date....Airsports Insurance Bureau Ltd 01983 298 480 Columbus Direct 0171 375 0011 Extrasure Travel Insurance Ltd 0171 480 6871 Snowcard 01327 262 805 West Mercia Insurance Services 01993 700 200 (also known as Harrison-Beaumont Insurance Schemes) Backpackers 01702 422 301 Nat West Travel Insurance 0800 331 133 MCIA Sports Plan 01480 218 273 The first three companies above can provide separate cover for skydiving only, ie, not necessarily including general cover for matters such as travel or loss. This is handy if your holiday is half-beach/half Twin Beech or if you want to spend a few days in Ampuriabrava before a business bash in Barcelona. In other words, your travel insurance may cover a few weeks but if you're only skydiving for a week, you can take out skydiving insurance to cover just that week. Good luck, enjoy yourself.D
allrightscud 0 #11 November 27, 2001 I got great value from H&B by taking out there annual cover £130, this includes skydiving and winter sports and any trip where I'm away for 3 days UK or abroad. I was paying £90 for annual without skydiving cover. £40 for a years skydiving insurance sounds good to me.S'laterTom.

MyUserID 0 #13 November 27, 2001 You keep saying how much you pay H&B in pounds. Are they soley a British company, or do they cover us Americans as well?
mountainman 0 #14 November 27, 2001 Good question...I am wondering about insurance in the US as well. -------------http://www.JumpinDuo.com"oh no. Not another one"-Alienangel
jfields 0 #15 November 27, 2001 Brandon,For people in the US, I'd recommend First Colony. They are a GE subsidiary. On 30-year term, you can get skydiving coverage from between $2.50 to $5.00 per $1000 of coverage, depending on a number of factors. So on a $250,000 policy, you could pay as little as $625/year surcharge to have that coverage include skydiving. Note that those numbers are the surcharge, which goes on top of your base insurance rate. For example, my base insurance rate is around $300, so I pay about a thousand a year total for this policy. Sounds expensive until you shop around and hear the scary quotes.JustinMy Homepage
mountainman 0 #16 November 27, 2001 Hey man....thank you for the info. I guess now having a wife and some bills, it might be a good idea to have that extra coverage. However, if there would be an accident where I'd die, it would probably be from my driving. Ahhh!!!! Yesterday when I was late for school, the needle was riding on the 100 mark (not kph) for a mile or so. God, I love the flat, country roads.-------------http://www.JumpinDuo.com"oh no. MyUserID 0 #17 November 27, 2001 Ok, can you get health insurance for just skydiving. I'm already covered for all other types of accidents on my parents' plan, but not for skydiving. I thought I remembered seeing something somewhere about USPA health insurance or something. I'm still a nieve college student who knows next to nothing of these matters, please enlighten me. jfields 0 #18 November 27, 2001 You can get up to $100,000 (I think) of Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance through a USPA affilliate. Call them (USPA) and ask about it. I signed up for it, but all the details are at home. The price $240 comes to mind, though.JustinMy Homepage
