lewmonst 0 #52 November 29, 2001 i don't know anything about the military from personal experience, but i do have an engineering degree. i turned down an appointment to the USAFA, having applied thinking i wanted to fly... but after visiting, deciding i couldn't sell my soul for 10 years just to see if i might get that chance...and this is only hearsay, but i've been told that they don't let the engineers drive the bus in the sky, they're stuck in an office with no windows on the ground designing it.but like i said, i'm just an ex-engineer, not in the military, so i'm probably not any help...i can say though, once i started skydiving, i thought who the hell would want to stay in the plane, and i haven't put any money to a pilots license... maybe i'll do that when i get bored of skydiving... ha, naaa...blue skies, go for your dreams!lew
AggieDave 6 #53 November 29, 2001 The Marine Corps needs pilots real bad, so they're giving big benifits and stuff for people going USMC Air. Talk to the guys at the OSO (Officer Selection Office) about it. Yes it's a little rougher then some of the other servies (atleast PT wise) when you go to OCS, but personally I think it's worth it.AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u. wingnut 0 #55 November 29, 2001 lew, what your degree is in has no bearing on as what you can do in the air force. if you so opted to take an engineering job in the af then yes you woould of been stuck flying a desk but if you would of got a pilot's slot then you'd be flying the sky proche or school bus, plus, hell 10 years is a drop in the bucket, life expectancy nowadays is 80 years! and hell think of all the cool places you could see...... europe, asia, australia, north dakota, georgia........ it's sort of sad how you learn all the stuff you wish you knew befroe you got in, after you've been in a while....... if i only knew what i know now 3 years ago.......you'd see me at ohio state U. in the rotc program......"up my noooossseee"- wingnut, at first euro dz.com boogie

NathanL100 0 #57 November 29, 2001 I was looking through my class schedule for the winter and I saw that ROTC is offered for the Army and the USAF. Does the Navy have a ROTC program??Blue Ones,NathanA# 39553
AggieDave 6 #58 November 30, 2001 Yes, the Navy does, but not all schools offer it. Worst case senerio, locate the nearest OCO and call them. Depending on the ROTC program, it may be better then trying to do ROTC. Or, you could transfer to a school that has a NROTC program (Navy ROTC). i.e. Texas A&M University (college station/main campus). AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u.
