What a great weekend!

Recommended Posts

The weather cleared in Texas to provide me with what had to have been one of the funnest jumping weekends I've had in a long time. After watching some of the videos of a couple of the jumps that we did this weekend, I haven't laughed that hard in a while. (In one, during a 3-way, the exit biffed a little, and one of the jumpers ended up on his back, so Flying Ferrert and myself just took side bodies on him, to his screaming wonderment. That has to be one of the funniest videos I've seen in a while).
Anyone who's not in Texas and didn't experience the beautiful weather we did (we were in shorts on the ground), missed out big time. :D

Hey Dave,
Sounds great! In Illionos our weather wasn't quite warm enough for shorts, but short-sleeved shirts!! And that is Crazy for December in this area!
I am glad you had a great weekend. I managed to do 7 jumps myself, and learn a ton. Landed on my feet on six of those!
Blue skies to all,
Anne

Have to agree with you there Dave, the weather in Houston Saturday was GREAT!!! Had a couple of really fun RW jumps, it's great when I can laugh at the big boys floating on me. (I'm 5'1 105lbs) As a bonus on Glens 100th I got to watch him get rodeoed towards the end of the dive, damn did he kick and squirm. :P Only semi bad dive I had was when we tried to launch a sitfly train and the pilot forgot to give a cut, guess who fell off the plane. :$
I definitely haven't had that much fun in several weeks. Thanks Derek for organizing the RW jumps, and thanks Skydive Houston for the $12 jumps.
As a side note for those of you who were out there jumping, they raised over $250 plus a ton of food for the Houston Food Bank. Way to go jumpers who donated!!!

Hell yeah, Anne!!!
It was soooo freakin nice today! Got 3 in (as opposed to the none i thought i'd get)....the 11-that-turned-into-a-13-way was hilarious. All i know is that the thing got taken out and IT WASN'T MY FAULT!! Can't blame the freefliers :)

Hey Joe,
OK, this is what happened. I wanted to do a big way belly dive since i hadn't done one in a while. Coincidentally enough, people were building something. So eventually a 5 way became an 11 way. Dan (the pilot) and I were the freefliers on the load, everyone else has some semblance of belly-flying. So the plane is filled with the 11 of us, Jeremy, and Brian. Both of which were asked on the load but didn't want to go. For the exit we put 4 out and the rest of us chased. I was the second to last one out, with Jason being last (yeah, he did a fun jump). Well when we were getting out, Jeremy (who was behind Jason) grabs Jason's rig and Brian (who is next to him) goes "i'll race you to the base" and runs out. Then Jason leaves and Jeremy follows.
As far as the dive itself, it never fully built but i made it to my slot. shortly after that the formation folded on itself (not my fault--i saw i was gonna take someone out by going over them and i left) and it went all to shit after that. at about this time people start putting it somewhat back together and there was brian, docked on the base on a dive he wasn't even a part of. One of the funnier dives i've been on. One of the funniest parts for me was that while i was laughing my ass off some of the more serious RW folk were a bit upset. Fun was had by all though.

We were driving to San Marcos and looked great until we turned on 80, then - clouds.... We still got two in. Alan Flynn organized us a 12 way and we jumped a 5 way with some of the Millinium people. But they shut down around 5 for weather.

Video?

Great skydives are rarely caught on film... unless, of course, all your jumps are on tape. :)

Definately a good weekend for all my aviation pursuits. Got behind the yoke of an airplane again for the first time in about 9 years. Just like skydiving or riding a bike. It all came back to me pretty quick. Got in a great Hybrid dive on Sunday!!! What fun that was!

Yeah, I got 15 points on a 11 way before the formation flattened out off the hill once...;) Actually, I got 6 points on a 4-way once (never mind that that was the dirt dive and the actual dive funneled). :D
