steve1 5 #1 December 3, 2001 I live a long way away from a rigger here in Montana. At any rate my reserve needs a repack. I plan on jumping at Perris and Elsinore over Christmas. I was just wondering how long I might have to wait to get my reserve repacked if I showed up down there. I hate to wait too long and waist time I could be in the air. Also which DZ would be the best to do relative work (if you don't know anyone). I went to Perris last Christmas and love the place. The only problem was getting on a decent RW load. Two or three ways are fun but I'd hoped for something bigger. I'm still a 400 jump wonder and I don't expect to be asked on anything too big. Anyone have any suggestions? VivaHeadDown 0 #2 December 3, 2001 Email manifest there at Perris, and they'll get you all the info you need about pack jobs and organized loads for RW. I work there right now, but just as a DZ bumb so not too sure on what to tell you. Either way, hope to see you there for the holidays!
indyz 1 #3 December 3, 2001 You might be able to arrange to ship your rig ahead for the repack and pick it up once you get there.--Brian
Albatross 0 #4 December 3, 2001 There are a few independant riggers at Perris who can pack overnight or in two days if you make arragnements and they have the time. As for RW loads, Mark Brown and Darryl Light are both LOs with a lot of experience and usually have 4-8 ways going up often larger. Let us know when you are out and maybe some of us will be there.God bless us and God Bless AmericaAlbatross
Michele 1 #5 December 3, 2001 Try asking Vinnie Palmieri at the Perris Valley Skydiving School. He's the Senior rigger for them, and is an all around excellent guy. Call the school, and leave a message for Vinnie. He'll get back to you ASAP. (800) 832-8818. Tell him "Michele from Hell" told you to call. Well, on second thought, maybe that won't help. Just don't tell him he looks like Ned Flanders, and you'll be fine. As for load organizing, yeah, by all means, Darryl and Mark are far too excellent. (Also, JBrasher, if you read this, help me out here....who are those other guys who l/o at Perris??????)Ciels-Michele"What of the dreams that never die? Keith 0 #7 December 3, 2001 I've heard of people getting next day service at Perris if you explain your situation. Also at Elsinore there's a LO on the weekends. I'm having a brain fart and can't remember his name off the top of my head. Great guy, been skydiving since god was a kid. He organizes loads up to 20 ways. westcoastchica 0 #8 December 3, 2001 greg is the rigger at elsinore and has done same day turn arounds, and i am sure the guys at perris are top notch also...whoever suggested shipping the rig ahead of time was one smart cookie...less hassle with the airlines and no waiting for the repack.also, i have jumped with the load organizers at perris and elsinore and had a great time with both. one thing to keep in mind, elsinore has boogie prices at like $14.50 or somthing for like a two week long period. check out their website, skydiveelsinore.com.glad your comin' to CA. you'll love it!Lara

steve1 5 #12 December 4, 2001 Culbertson is in the NorthEast corner of the state. I'm very familiar with Superior. I used to be a timber-faller around there and have done a lot of elk hunting up Fish Creek and behind Alberton. I used to work for Jesse James of Superior. Have also talked with Mike Lapinski some. I've only been to Lost Prairie once. I've been out of the sport for a long time, and started up again last year. I used to jump with Fred Sands, Dave Tousey, and Stinkey a lot. That was about 25 years ago. I think all three live in the lost Prairie area. Dave owns the bar. Fred owns the D.Z. Used to jump with B.J. Worth before he became so famous. All of them are super people.
steve1 5 #13 December 4, 2001 Thanks for all the great information. Maybe I'll meet some of you at Perris and Elsinore. I can't wait.
riggerrob 643 #14 December 4, 2001 Ideally, you would mail your rig ahead of time.Sometimes Adventure Sports - in Perris - will do a rush job, just warn them ahead of time.If your rig is in good shape, the turn-around can be as short as 3 hours! Finally, pick it up when you said you would. Anyways, both DZs have good riggers, but the staffs were better when I worked at Elsinore (Gear Up) and Perris (Adventure Sports Loft).
