magicmx5 0 #26 December 5, 2001 How do you know how tight to roll the tail? I can never tell when to stop cause the control lines are hidden so you don't know if they are migrating to the front or not. Also, I heard the psycho pack was supposed to be better for softer openings. Anyone else have any experience with it. I want to try it, but would rather see someone else do it first.

pyke 0 #28 December 5, 2001 Ahh, how this thread brought back some (albeit painful!) memories of learning to pack!My best move so far.....getting Bill Scott (Skydive Monroe, GA) to show how it is he packs so DAMN!! fast! Now, I have it on the ground in one minute and in the container in about another 3-4.....My - how much more pleasurable my life of jumping is now!! If you would like to learn Bill's method - a trip to Monroe can be more of an experience than you think!!!Anyway, stick with it MM - billvon was right...it is a right of passage!!!my .02,Kahurangi e Mahearangi,Pyke The Kiwi Lesbian!!!USPA C- 31879
flyhi 24 #29 December 5, 2001 MM,I bought my first ZP off of my rigger who was also a dealer. As part of the deal, he threw in a free first pack job. After watching what he did to my canopy, I was real close to having my reserve repacked. And then I packed it the first time. Someone mentioned something about a monkey and a football, but I didn't hear the whole thing. Someone did suggest to have a "spritz" bottle handle and, if you know you are going to jump it the same day, lightly dampen the canopy. Also works in low humidity conditions. Food for thought. mountainman 0 #30 December 5, 2001 Haha...thanks Pyke. I love hearing how other people learned and how some of the bad experience they were. I know that one day, I'll be packing without thinking about it, but I'll remember yesterday and how I spent about 2 hrs straight trying to pack that slick, new ZP and it is still laying in the living room right now. *sigh* This inspires me for a new thread....-------------http://www.JumpinDuo.com"oh no. mnischalke 0 #31 December 5, 2001 I usually shove my knee (gently) up under each side of the tail to clear it. I pull the tail around the front of the canopy (with the nose facing me) and grab both ends below the top skin center cell seams. I pull them toward me a bit and put about a roll in them. Matching the roll with the thumb and forefinger of my line holding hand, I push the roll into the bundle as I put a couple more rolls in it. My rigger told me to push in on the tail as you roll it. This takes up the slack in the tail but keeps the stuff you spent 10 minutes putting in the exact place in place. For my Silhouette, I am just looking for enough rolls (about three) to keep the package together when I lay it down, lay on it and begin to fold the corners over the top to finish with a Wolmari Pack.Psycho pack if you like, but Wolmari is the TRICK for me.Peace out, mike
