Things that suck.

If you don't want the gear dealers to make money...... then make your own gear.
How fair is it for a person to intenionally sell something at such a steep discount that no one else can afford to stay competitive? With the small amount of jumpers that buy new gear, its hard enough for the gear makers to break even let along make money. Then once you do find the price point that can put food on the table for your employees (they are not cheap you know...) and stills allows for you to reinvest in the company you enforce that price point. Resalers need to make the same payments and make the same reinvestments to continute to survive. Now comes along some weekend gear seller that don't care about profit since he is really working 8-5 at an office and gear selling is keeping him jumping and thats it, and he decides that he'll sell it 20% cheaper then everyone else including the makers price just to get a couple of bucks. A couple of bucks is all he really need anyway right? What that does is drive the other companies that are the backbone of the industry out of business real quickly and now he is free to slowly bump up the price and turn the gear sales into a full time business...... Is this fair?

Well... by supporting dealers that would go against factory mandated rules... whats to stop them from dealing in substanderd or factory seconds for their source? For every couple of canopies that are made, a few fail some tests at the factory, how would you feel about the company going ahead and selling them anyways because they have to knock the price super low and sacrifice quality to stay open? Look at Icuras for instance, what if they determine that in order to make their next loan payment they will go ahead and ship some old pre-fixed Crossfires out and hope that noone gets hurt or killed under it? I'd much rather pay a bit mre and get quality then get the deal of a lifetime, only for it to be my last deal because of substanderd materials.
Relative Workshop issued a warning a few years ago, when their patent on the 3 ring was about to expire about companies using cheaper materials in making thier own risers to save a buck or two and pass it on, it seems that if the quality is sacrifaced just a bit, the rigs can distort and cause a jam and never release. Is that worth passing the savings onto the poor skidivers out there?

Well since the flash window is too skinny to see the whole thing in and I'm way too impatient and easily frustrated to scroll back and forth (besides the fact that the words go by too fast anyway)..... I'd have to say that what really sucks is that flash animation. If I could read the message I might comment on it, but since I can't read the message.....
pull and flare,

Nothing at all. I know at least one dealer who does just that. If you want cheap gear, call him. If not, go somewhere else. Your choice.

I think you should be able to buy any main canopy you want, even if it's a small round and someone thinks you're going to kill yourself with it. It's silly to claim that a VX79 in perfect shape is safer than a Triathalon 160 with a cosmetic defect. Jumpers should decide for themselves what sort of canopy they want to buy, and how much quality they want to pay for.

And will you tell a skydiver who can't afford gear that _you_ have decided he has to spend another $200 for his gear? Would you like that done to you? Say, someone else deciding that you could only use PD or precision canopies because the others are just too cheap/unsafe/odd?

Flash animation is increadibly easy. Anyone with half a brain can do it. Think of it like taking a post-it pad and drawing different stick figures and animating them. What's even cooler is that Flash will do a whole lot of the in-between drawings on it's own, so it makes it very simple.
Even the more advanced stuff is pretty easy, I've done a couple complete sites in Flash, using their scripting language to control various environment variables and stuff, and even that is easy. The only thing is that it takes a bit of time to do it right, that's the only draw back. :)AggieDave '02
