Joe Jennings Rocks!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey all,
Quick note after finding out that the new Good Stuff DVD is coming out soon...
Nobody can argue the fact that Joe is at the top of the list, if not the very best freefall cinematographer in the business. I have also known him to be an incredibly caring, sincere, generous person, and wanted to pass that on to anyone who has not yet had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.
To see such a genuinely good person continue to succeed is truely awesome, and I hope that we all will continue to support him.
So, everyone that has a DVD player, go out and get the newest Good Stuff...haven't seen it yet, but we all already know it's gonna rock!
Thanks for listening!
Steve

Well, I would have to say Norman Kent is the best in freefall photography and video. However, I would definitely say that Joe Jennings is the best in the business at organizing and performing skydiving stunts.

I would agrue that and say that JJ is at the top. Hell, look at all the commerical stuff he has done and so forth. I have seen JJ do some pretty crazy things and has done a LOT of great work. What would be your reasons for saying that Norman Kent is better? (NOT trying to start a flame war, really just curious. Never heard of him.) ;)

I thought Good Stuff was the best I had seen until I saw Crosswind. Doesnt make JJ any worse, He's still awesome but I had never seen anything like Crosswind. I was awestruck. I think anyone who can skydive by instinct and make great pictures is pretty damn cool

my 2 cents of an opinion:
norman kent does better artistic skydiving photography. jj does more and better extreme and entertaining videos. sanders does good work, but more commercial stuff. I've met sanders, nice guy. And I have to say, if you've never seen any of SteveO (Utter) video's recently, check them out. He not only an amazing skydiver, he does excellent camera work, and beautiful films, visually, artisticly and in editing, compostion and effects. And steveO's and incredibly nice guy and great to jump with...
ok, that's all i have to say about that

Too right! I've ordered mine. Unfortunately you just know that international orders (to the UK in my case) are going to take AGES :(.
BTW, the JJ website says the dvd is 2 hours long, compared to the 1 hour VHS so there must be a fair amount of extra stuff on there.
Gus (who's very happy, despite being ill, 'cos the weather's looking good and he's getting his rig back tomorrow morning :)

Besides the "Willing to Fly" video, he has also done work for some major motion pictures such as Dropzone, Terminal Velocity, Cliffhanger, and of course Cutaway just to name of few. When the motion picture industry needs someone for freefall or aerial photography, Norman Kent is usually the man. Joe Jenning's videos are really cool because of the stunts he sets up and organizes which he is the best at doing that. But if I was doing a skydive of any type, and wanted someone to video it, and I could have whoever I want, Norman's the guy. Joe Jennings makes great videos. Norman Kent makes videos great. Here's what I think would be really awesome....have Joe Jennings set up and perform a stunt with Norman Kent on Video! There you have the best of both worlds! JMHO

Just my thoughts, for what they are worth...
They are all fantastic video guys.
You look at some of the most recent major projects, though, and Joe is the man...
Goose Commercial, Snowboarding commercial (Mountain Dew), Charlie's Angels, pretty much anything on MTV, etc. etc. etc.
What's also great, is that he is just an amazing person as well. I'm not saying that the other guys aren't...I know Tom, and he's a great guy, don't know Norm. Although the comparison and discussion is great, I want to remind everyone that the purpose of my original post wasn't to start a debate on who gets better shots, it was to remind everyone to support the good guys, Joe being a prime example, who continually supports skydiving and skydivers in ways that many don't see, and is just releasing his newest project.
In answer to the question about the length of the DVD, from what I have heard, it is some behind the scenes stuff, some commercial and movie stuff, and just more mayhem. Sounds like it's gonna be sweet.
Anyhoo, I'll shut up now. :-)
