rgoper 0 #26 December 7, 2001 there went you 45 seconds of freefall! just kidding, i know he falls fast. i was doing some head down last weekend, and some guy went flying right by me in a stand, i know he was getting it. speed dives are still my passion, but i' going to start doing more rw, more frefall time, but it goes by quicker, because your concentrating on the "points" more than anything else. i did a 4 way last weekend, breakoff planned at 4500, bob looks at me at 4000 shaking his head, i immediately "turned and burned" but i was having fun! (no excuse for loss of altitude awareness, none at all) take care.Richard"Gravity Is My Friend"
AggieDave 6 #27 December 7, 2001 Ok, if you can imagine a nickel plated safe...right, now round off the corners...ok, good, no take that safeand launch it out of a plane...yup, that's how I fall. Actually, it sort of sucks, since its just about impossible to jump with people. I'm just now getting my RW down where I can jump with groups and not just totally blow by them.AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u. RemiAndKaren 0 #28 December 7, 2001 Get a big ass jumpsuit... I look like a freeflyier with grips, but you know what: at 230 Lbs, I *almost* never go low...With extra baggy arms, and a bit of wings, and mega booties...It may not look *cool* like tight suits do, but who cares! (or do it the hard way: loose weight.... I know I wont.. lol)RemiMuff

AggieDave 6 #30 December 7, 2001 Remi, I weigh 230lbs, but I only have like 12-13% bodyfat, I don't have a whole lot to loose...I want to get one of the Freedom Means Choice suits, I figured one of those would probably slow me down, atleast freefly wise. As for RW I want to get a suit with swoop cords, I've jumped with them a couple times and their awsome for slowing down to formation fall rates (it's like the fall up instead of down).AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u. RemiAndKaren 0 #31 December 7, 2001 Carefull with swoopcordsIf you start doing more tight-in/quick RW (as apposed to big fairly static stuff) and you extend an arm a bit too much, you may end up with a lot of air catching you and making you not too stable....If you only have that little fat, you must be fairly tall (I'm 6'2, 230, with.. mmmm, slightly more then 12% fat), so there is no reason why you HAVE to fall so fast (unless you're one of these beefcake bodybuilder types.. then loose the muscles.. lol). I agree, it may take some time to tweak the right combinaison of jumpsuit and body position, but If I can be at the end of a 12 way accordeon, there is hope! lol... PM me if you want some fat ass tips...RemiMuff
AggieDave 6 #32 December 7, 2001 I'm barely 6'1" and have this habit of lifting heavy stuff in the gym. I hadn't thought about that with swoop cords, especially since the most points I've ever turned doing RW was like 5 on a 4 way. I hadn't thought about the faster stuff. Hmmm...maybe I'll get a rubber suit and just try for speed records...AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u.
RemiAndKaren 0 #33 December 7, 2001 Dont you know bodybuilder arent allowed to skydive??? It makes us lardasses look bad! lolI think we had that discusion before, but who cares...Seriously, we are pretty close on heigh/weigh, so trust me, there aint no reason for you not be able to do RW within a 120mph range. How is your arch? I fly very very neutrall (read almost no arch). I still have range, it just means you need to be much quicker in reading the fall rates, and anticipate more. How are your legs? Do you have video of you from above? I found that for me, what made a world of difference was to fly with my legs close to each other (visualize them touching, but when you see a video, you see that there is plenty of space). Jumpsuit: I am dead serious about big suits.... they may not give as clean an airflow, but unless you're Airspeed, who cares! Especially now that even normal jumpsuits are getting a little baggier, we fat blokes need all the help we can get! (okok.. beefcakes too)The problem that "bigger " skydivers have is that most coaches are skinny little things, and lots dont have a clue on how to fly slower (they know how to slow down, but as far as changing your avg speed for good, most ahave never had to do it).RemiMuff
AggieDave 6 #34 December 7, 2001 That is true, most of the people I've jumped with are smaller people (also known as your typical skydivers...). I'm much better then I used to be with fall rates, though anymore, I'm put in the base. I'm going to play with different jump suits and see what happens.AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u.

AggieDave 6 #36 December 7, 2001 No, from what I've noticed, the typical (male)skydiver is about 5'11" or so and weighs maybe 180lbs and that's if you get him and his gear soaking wet... Don't people eat or what? AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u.

FallingILweenie 0 #38 December 7, 2001 No, Dave, I don't eat. Takes away from skydiving money. I'm 5 10, 160...i have a real problem going too fast head-down, though...have gotten as wide as i can but still i can't seem to slow down...maybe a jumpsuit will help.blue skiesTomas

rgoper 0 #40 December 7, 2001 aggie dave:this weekend, i'll let you try my tony RW suit, if you want, it's double layered, and has booties and helps you with the fall rate. it helped me last weekend with debbie, and bob, you know how big those two are! but it did just right. you and i are about the same size, only i'm 6' 3", 235-240, but it'll fit you, if you want to try it, your more than welcome!Richard"Gravity Is My Friend"
Spectrejumper 0 #41 December 8, 2001 You guys might want to check out the Crater suit by Bodysport USA. I saw their ad in Parachutist about the 'computer projected fallrate' program they use and figured it would be a good suit for me. It helps out a lot. I'm 5'11", 225. The suit comes standard with swoop cords, but I almost never use them. Only when chasing tandems. It's like having air brakes, which is pretty cool. It's kinda hard to do formation flying type stuff when using them though. I guess I'd probably use them if I was docking late on a big way, but I'm always in the base anyway. Oh yeah, if anybody ever tries to give you shit about always being in the base, remind them that without a good base there is no skydive.Mike D-23312"It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." lummy 4 #43 December 8, 2001 Hmmmm Favorite discipline........Well, I'm no where near in my skydiving career to wanna rule one or the other out, but when I was doing AFF, I was working on the 34th floor in downtown SF. I'd look out the window and think to myself, "YEAH!!!!I could pull this off, land in the Maritime Plaza, one flight of stairs to the street and I'm outta there" :)Ohhh.... And don't tell anyone, but I have access to the Kaiser bldg now ;)
SpeedRacer 1 #44 December 8, 2001 Well, I'm 5'9", slender build, 150 lbs. and I had to get a slick, tight fitting jumpsuit just so I could stay with y'all. So after getting measure & I'm waiting for the jumpsuit, I go into the gym & lift a few weights. All of a sudden the jumpsuit is real tight around the chest, shoulders, biceps, & thighs. F&*kin no leeway in this suit, except around the waist. Sucks if I want to wear something underneath during cold weather. In the old days of skydiving, if you kept going low, they would call it "fat boy-ing it"!! LOL! Oh well, in these days of older, heavier skydivers, the rest of us (who sometimes have to wear weights to keep up) have to get our laughs where we can...(Not that I'm that young, I'm 37.)Speed RacerWhat contemptible scoundrel has stolen the cork from my lunch?!-WC Fields
SkymonkeyONE 4 #45 December 8, 2001 QuoteDont you know bodybuilder arent allowed to skydive??? Dude, you want to see a BIG fucking skydiver? There is a guy at Perris named Mitch, who is a freeflyer. That dude is the epitome of "no neck" bodybuilder, but he gets along fine in the air with his VERY floppy suit. He is also very cool to talk to in case you ever run into him somewhere. My webpage HERE
