airann 1 #26 December 8, 2001 I have a staple gun. I wonder at which distance it is only a small sting. (not for animal children - for cyberskydiver)I need something to alert him to when I am talking to him and not the animal children. He gets lost in his computer games. Divadiver 0 #32 December 10, 2001 Ahh, Sis, give your puppies a big ol' hug from me. My little girl passed away the day after Thanksgiving, she (Abby) was 15 years old and white from the tip of her nose to way behind her ears. She had a good life, and had the most beautiful puppies around. She too was a sausage dog, her given name on her birth certificate was Hillshire's Abriel.Mr. Bean the cat, he and I liked to play a game call let's see if we can keep the litter in the box. Let me tell you, I tried every litter on the market (including those big chunks of newspaper rolled) and a cat with extra toes (and extra long toes) can carry that stuff from room to room with no problem at all! Rubber bands kind of freaked him out, he didn't want to touch them, but he would still bat them around.Diva
airann 1 #33 December 10, 2001 If your cat has extra toes - you are lucky its a Hemingway cat. As in Ernest Hemingway!Ernest Hemingway, writer and famous cat lover, made his home on the small island of Key West, Florida. He shared the island with nearly fifty cats, including a polydact cat (six toes) given to him by a ship captain.Ernest Hemingway acquired this cat with six toes and was very taken with this special feature. A colony of about 60 cats , descendents of this original cat and about half of them having extra toes, now live on the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West, Florida. Because of the notoriety of the cats on this estate, cats with the extra toes are often referred to as "Hemingway cats". The cats are fed by caretakers of the museum. The vet comes to the museum to administer their yearly shots. The whole procedure is somewhat like a "cat rodeo," with cats being rounded up by means of treats. The job must be done rapidly, since the cats soon sense that something is amiss. The vast majority are vaccinated the first day and their names are checked off on a list to avoid confusion. The vet returns the following week to inoculate the few who are missed the first time. ("Cat-trick"-If you gently insert your finger in the cat's ear, he will not move while having a shot)I know a ton of usless information- AirAnnYou've got bad eating habits if you use a grocery cart in 7-Eleven okay?--Dennis Miller
Divadiver 0 #34 December 10, 2001 QuoteI know a ton of usless informationNot at all, some have never heard them referred to as Hemingway cats, heck some people have never seen a cat with extra toes - "look at the size of that mit!". I intentionally went looking for a polydact cat, only I'm not so sure Mr. Bean qualifies because he actually has 7 toes on one of his front paws. He's something else altogether!!Diva
Divadiver 0 #35 December 10, 2001 Hey, I just noticed that no one has mentioned playing with their cats and a lazer pointer. This can get really hilarious in no time. Mr. Bean would out of nowhere come ripping through the house like a bat out of hell, so one day I decided that he needed a little extra exercise in his route and brought out the lazer pointer. He can hear that thing click on from two rooms away, and don't get in his way or he'll run you right over trying to get to it.Diva
SpeedRacer 1 #36 December 10, 2001 My cat, Bongo is polydactyl on his front paws. He has big puffy polarbear paws. Supposedly polydactyly is much more common in cats from Massachusetts (where Bongo is from), than in cats in any other state. I guess they must have brought a few polydactyl cats over on the Mayflower, & it just stayed in the local gene pool there.Speed RacerWhat contemptible scoundrel has stolen the cork from my lunch?!-WC Fields
