Jessica 0 #1 December 11, 2001 As some of you know, I've got a really squirrely schedule -- I work most nights and weekends (like a bartender, 'cept I don't get to drink on the job), which puts a big ole crimp in my skydiving, since all the local DZs are closed during the week.So I checked out the Spaceland site, and it says they're open 7 days a week. Accurate? What's the weekday scene like there? What about Skydive Houston? When are they open? Are these DZs amenable to people crashing there at night? Is there a social scene on weeknights? Thanks! I don't mind a three-hour drive if it gives me some good jumping time. Hell, San Marcos is an hour and a half away.Pet me! I'm harmless and cute! AggieDave 6 #2 December 11, 2001 QuoteAre these DZs amenable to people crashing there at night? Is there a social scene on weeknights?Niether DZ (to my knowledge) have bunk rooms like SDD does, though I know on some weekends, some people have slept in the packing area at Waller. In my experience with Spaceland (though very limited) I slept in my truck in the parking lot. The only accomidations that were available from what I saw, besides showers and stuff once they opened, were cool people at the DZ (Slappie for that weekend You know, a quick trip to REI would fix that situation. Or, you could pick up a chick-magnet, or in your case a guy-magnet, you know, a RV-trailer. AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u. brits17 0 #3 December 11, 2001 i have a feeling this thread is going to get really long :) hehe. anyway, skydive houston is my home. there's one thing you'll always here about sdh- good people, good vibes, and ugly chicks of course. lol. but really, during the week, its mostly cessna, we'll get the otter up occasionally when there's a group of students (like this thursday!). weeknights there's really not much camping out, except on friday nights there are a few who will crash. saturday nights are the best, big bonfire, lots of beer and good fun, and of course- RANCHITO the mexican restaraunt. many will crash in the packing area or pitch a tent on saturday nights.spaceland- last time i've been there, you will usually get otter up a few times during the week, am i right? and i will not say anything negative about the dz, because it is nice facilities and i like the jumpers there as well.so anyway, hope this helps and hope to see you out at houston soon!Blue Skies,Brittany S!C-31392
AggieDave 6 #4 December 11, 2001 Quotei will not say anything negative about the dzI wasn't trying to say or imply anything bad about either DZ. I really enjoy both of them, the people are great, the facilities are great, both DZs are a blast. I was just relating my experiecnes there. It is just unfortunate that Spaceland is so much farther away then SDHouton, or I would jump there much more then I have. The only thing bad about SDHouston is that Brit girl, every time I go, I'm having a great time until she hangs around. Ruins the entire weekend. (I'm kidding, I know sarcasm doesn't translate well via the internet.)AggieDave '02-------------Blue Skies and Gig'em Ags!BTHO t.u. gemini 0 #9 December 11, 2001 For everyone's info:SDSpaceland has contracted to build cabins. Each cabin will have four sofa/bunks, heat & a/c, etc. Next on the improvement schedule is a covered pavilion that will include, bathrooms, showers, and washer/dryers.No word on cost for a cabin. Jumperpaula 0 #18 December 12, 2001 Jess: I jump alot at spaceyland on Fridays. I get out around Noon and can usually get 2 or 3 in before dark. During Daylight Savings, I could sometimes jump more on Fridays than Saturdays. They have Tandems and Students every day. On a Wends or Thursd you may only get two or three loads, but better than nuthin. The week after christmas, Im having House Guest from Minnesota (Skydive Hutchinson) coming to Houston to JUMP! We plan to be at the DZ every jumpable day during their visit, so we should keep the otter flying that week! Fly Your Slot !
