weid14 0 #2 December 10, 2001 not sure how they do it in Oz, but the USPA had a two part series on starting a DZ that was pretty informative. You may want to contact them and get reprints. Of course to make a million $$ skydiving you need to start with 2 million!!!

jfields 0 #4 December 10, 2001 From everything I've read about owning a DZ, the best thing to do is shoot yourself in the head at the beginning. It is less painful. But if you are a glutton for punishment, go for it. When I get out there some day, I'll jump at your DZ. JustinMy Homepage
freeflir29 0 #5 December 11, 2001 "the best thing to do is shoot yourself in the head at the beginning"No.....you just need to come into a large illicit source of cash. DZ's are great for money laundering. Remember, every Otter is a full load and you always fly 20 laods per day. riggerrob 643 #6 December 13, 2001 First of all, earn a Master Rigger's Certificate.Secondly, earn a Commercial Pilot's License.Thirdly, earn every possible Parachute Instructor's License you can think of.Fourthly, become a Certified Public Accountant.Fourthly, earn an MBA.Fifthly, become an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.Sixtly, expect to work full time at all those jobs, every day!Geez! That adds up to 48 hours of work per day!And they wonder why a few DZOs do drugs!Actually, the real secret is to understand all those jobs, but hire good people and let them get on with their jobs. Then you only have to glance in on them once in a while. Finally, remember that the DZO is just a figure head. The real boss is the customer.
