airann 1 #4 December 30, 2001 I figured out a way to deal with it. If I can pry my eyes off the old movies taped for me... (no cable either) .. I go outside and mow the yard or take the weedeater for a walk... then I am too tired to jump. If you do that enough, you almost pray for some rain. http://www.AirAnn.comUgly Girl #
MarkF 0 #5 December 30, 2001 You wouldn't want to send some of that rain to NSW ( Oz ) would you ???? We could do with a bit to help with the fires. In fact NSW could do with a LOT of rain right now. You can hang onto any wind that you have though.Bush fires are NOT fun...:-( For a bit of a pictre of a Eucalypt fire have a read of :-http://www.theage.com.au/news/state/2001/12/30/FFXHMUZ9SVC.htmlOorooMark F...Who got a call to go to NSW last night. skreamer 1 #8 December 30, 2001 Hey, Frank, you're really starting to get those jumps in now! Is 2002 going to be a big year for you??? (if the Canadian dollar co-operates that is)Hinton is still closed until next weekend, so I've been practicing my packing, setting the oven timer to 15 minutes and racing it - and I'm still losing!!!!(BTW I am fully aware of how sad practicing my packing on a Sunday evening is...) /s
Spectrejumper 0 #9 January 1, 2002 Quote I'm SO ready to be at the dz jumping today. But nooooo...... it's completely clouded over and has been raining since last night.I'd like to have some sympathy for you, but I live just outside Buffalo,NY. It's in the 20's and we've gotten 7 feet of snow in the past week. It's great, they have done stories about it on The Weather Channel, CNN, The Today Show, and god knows what other national shows. To add insult to injury, I got a call last Wednesday that my canopy is complete and was being shipped, unfortunately the Buffalo airport was closed for days after that so I haven't gotten any mail or other deliveries. BTW, how does PD ship canopies? FedEx? I won't have a chance to jump it til my vacation in February, but not owning a canopy is starting to freak me out. I sold my Spectre the first week of December. Well, I'm done ranting now. I hope everything goes well when you do get back in the air. Maybe we can make a jump together when I'm out there in Feb.Happy New Year.Mike D-23312"It's such a shame to spend your time away like this...existing." skybytch 273 #10 January 1, 2002 QuoteIt's in the 20's and we've gotten 7 feet of snow in the past week. Ah yes. Yet another reason I'm not likely to live outside California I'll take freaks and nuts and 7.75% sales tax and high food/housing/fuel etc costs; 7 feet of snow?? How do you people LIVE in that shit?!?!?!?!? A better question would be - WHY do you people live in that shit?!?!?!?! QuoteBTW, how does PD ship canopies? FedEx? Depends. Ground is usually UPS; 2 day or overnight usually FedEx.QuoteMaybe we can make a jump together when I'm out there in FebI damn well better be back in the air for real by then!!!! Lemme know when you'll be here!pull and flare, lisa

How do we live in this shit? Believe it or not, you get used to it. Not the 7 feet in one week thing, that's never happened before. In fact that's right around our previous one month high for snowfall. Why do we live in this shit? I'm not quite sure. It beats the hell out of earthquakes and brush fires though.QuoteI damn well better be back in the air for real by then!!!! Lemme know when you'll be here!I'll be there Feb 11 thru 13. Woken up a few times... and a friend told me all about his "freefall" out of bed during the Northridge quake... Brush fires are easy to deal with too; just don't live in the brush! lol And if you do, have a good well and big hoses!Quotemyself to jump with you as well on my West Coast trip in 2002Lemme know! Iflyme 0 #14 January 1, 2002 QuoteIs 2002 going to be a big year for you??? (if the Canadian dollar co-operates that is)Hey, Will! It seems the Canuck Buck fares well against foreign currency other than the US $... that's why I been ordering gear from suppliers in Oz! 2002 - it's already started - promises to be another great year in my little corner of the planet... I'm working a new shift since the beginning of September, getting off work at 4pm, so that means lots more jumps in the evenings once we set the clocks ahead... yeehaw! My last couple of jumps were great sit flys, so hopefully I'm gonna start learning how to do some transitions real soon! How did ya spend your New Year's Eve?Frank
