Pammi 0 #1 January 3, 2002 Does anyone know a good program for downloading MP3's? The one I was using, Kazaa, is what was loading that virus on my 'puter I finally figured out (a Trojan) so I'm not going to use it obviously. Pssstt... if you know where I could find MSN Office and Photoshop again I'd appreciate it When I look, I get three kazillion windows popping up and can never find anything.Closing pin jewelry

wildblue 7 #12 January 3, 2002 Kazaa = BAD!Stay away from Kazaa! Bad bad stuff! Spy-ware gets installed with it, and won't work without it. Use morpheus, it uses the same network, but doesn't install the spyware crap. Go to Download.com and download "Ad Aware" - if you have Kazaa, it'll show you the junk it installed with it. So, uninstall Kazaa, run ad-aware and get rid of the spyware crap, then go to musiccity.com and install morpheus.I ain't happy, I'm feeling gladI got sunshine, in a bag
AggieDave 6 #13 January 3, 2002 AudioGalaxy and morephous are the best out there right now. Pammi, if you can't get anything to work let me know what you want and I probably have it (I have about 25Gb of mp3s), so I could see what I could do for you.Once you're gone, you can't come backWhen you're out of the blueAnd into the black-NeilYoung

PalmettoTiger 1 #15 January 3, 2002 Direct Connect is your friend... we could establish a DZ.com hub and turn this into a warez site!!Seriously, DC is very lacking in broad search abilities, but if you want to exchange files with just a few people it's the best way. http://www.neo-modus.com, I think.I wanted to put some really inspiring lyrics here but none of them fit.>< !! Slappie 9 #17 January 3, 2002 I was surfing this morning and stubled across this bit of info...Popular file-sharing software from Grokster and the Limewire Gnutella Client contain the W32.DlDer Trojan, Symantec revealed last week. The KaZaA utility is also said to contaim the same threat. The Grokster company has released an utility which it says will remove the Trojan. Those who prefer to see to their own Trojan removal need only search for a hidden directory under their \Windows directory called \Explorer. Simply delete the \Windows\Explorer directory, along with the companion file Dlder.exe in the \Windows directory To Read more My New Website with 24hr Chat

Pammi 0 #20 January 3, 2002 ARGH! That is what I got with Kazaa! And with WinME if you try to use their utility in safe mode to restore back to a previous date, it won't work cuz it installs there too! I got a kicka$$ virus protection program tho that worked much better then Norton that was recommended to me. It's Staples own version, only 20 bucks and they guarantee it to work, or they'll fix your puter free! It found the virus for me the second time I dl'd Kazaa after we reformatted our HD, before I knew Kazaa was what I was getting it from and got rid of it without messing anything up. If anyone is interested, it's called PC-cillen.Closing pin jewelry
jfields 0 #21 January 3, 2002 Pammi,Do yourself another favor, and ditch Windows ME. It blows. You'd probably me much happier going "backwards" to Windows 2000 or by upgrading to Windows XP. Both are far superior to Win ME. They are more stable and have less spontaneous seizures.JustinMy Homepage

AggieDave 6 #23 January 3, 2002 Win2000 isn't backwards from WinME. They're totally different animals, Win ME is built on the Win9x kernel where as 2000 is built on the NT kernel. jfields 0 #25 January 3, 2002 AggieDave,Yeah, yeah. I know the differences. I meant "backward" in that I believe it was released earlier. I know it is in a totally different track, etc.But to anyone actually using WinME, the differences might be lost. JustinMy Homepage
