Iflyme 0 #1 January 5, 2002 So how many jumps did you make in 2001? Between kids soccer and baseball games, crappy weather, and camping trips, I managed to squeeze in 55 jumps at my one C-182 dropzone (Ok, sometimes there is a second plane on busy summer weekends when there are lots of students...)How 'bout you? skybytch 273 #2 January 5, 2002 One. But then again, I had major back surgery one year ago today.I was planning to at least double my '01 jump numbers last weekend but the weather didn't cooperate dammit.pull and flare, lisa
MiataDRM 0 #3 January 5, 2002 Technically, it was not a full year for me; since I started my AFF in May! I got 46 in before the year ended. My short term goal was to have 50 & a B license before the end of the year...but it's ok, it's a NEW YEAR! Instead of worrying about the number of jumps, I'm now concentrating on the quality of my dive flow & learning new positions & maneuvers. :o) Lisa, I hope your back feels better now & that you fully recover soon.**I'm a Pschydiver!Majdi
FallinWoman 1 #4 January 5, 2002 I insisted on going to the DZ on Dec 30th and making two hop and pops in the freezing weather....Why? So my number for 2001 would be 101....just had to break 100, and once i did one, I had to do a second..."It's not the heights that I am afraid of, it is the impact that bothers me." airann 1 #8 January 5, 2002 I am really serious. not a word since 5/12All I have to do is get my print outs from all the dz's. I have people who were there who can sign them. I likely will remember them. I usually go and do a bunch in a day and then lay off for a while, like now. I have not jumped since Oct. 28th. So I know dates and people I jump with. I just dont write alot about it.Should be interesting to know how many real jumps I have. I have been saying around 300. I believe that has been past. But I wonder when? Yeah- When was it that I owed beer??http://www.AirAnn.comUgly Girl #

It's not uncommon for me to go months without logging a jump, then on a rainy day sit down with the pro track and see what I've done. All that and an audible too. Help with cancer research here. airann 1 #11 January 5, 2002 Oh no kidding.... I have owned 3 of them.Every single jump I have ever made -15 student jumps are on my protracks. Only trouble is back in or around June or July one flew off my head. So, I slapped another one on. 2 things I look at in my protrack. 1. speed ~ to be sure I am NOT too fast and not too slow. Despite popular belief it is NOT cool to go fast. There is no race to the earth going on up there. Unless you want a short skydive. (pet pieve)2. dates and jump numbershttp://www.AirAnn.comUgly Girl #
AggieDave 6 #12 January 5, 2002 Quoteit is NOT cool to go fastYeah it is, espicially if you're my size. Then fast IS cool, since that's just about all you do. Scary: I almost caught up with a 3-way headdown/stand freefly this weekend with me in my trusty sit-fly. I gave them almost 5 seconds before I left. And with the winds the way they were (really damn fast...)they should have been waaaay gone. Atleast they were when I left the plane...Once you're gone, you can't come backWhen you're out of the blueAnd into the black-NeilYoung
Jabeln79 0 #13 January 5, 2002 Well my first Jump was on May 24 2001 and on dec 30th 2001 i was at 82, im up to 86 though. I plan on jumpin a hell of a lot more this year. blue skies Joe
Iflyme 0 #14 January 5, 2002 QuoteI gave them almost 5 seconds before I left I don't time it anymore -- I wait until the previous group is moving away at a 45 degree angle before going. Keep in mind also that foward throw lasts about 5 seconds, and when the plane is flying intro strong winds, you need even more separation...
AggieDave 6 #15 January 5, 2002 I was watching them also, I watched till they were to what I could being a 45deg angle, I was also counting, it happened to be about 5 seconds. You have to understand, too, that my sitfly gets up around 200mph. Being a low timer (90 jumps) I was probably off on the seperation, but still, I gave them a good bit of time and still got close enough that I could have sped up and made it into their skydive with time to spair. It freaked me out, actually, so I was doing my best to stay away from them.Once you're gone, you can't come backWhen you're out of the blueAnd into the black-NeilYoung
PhreeZone 20 #16 January 5, 2002 215 since The end of March.(255 total) Not bad considering I had 2 semesters of school, a couple of illness's, and some other concerns that kept me grounded for abount 6 weeks. I also did'nt get my rig put back together till March and graduated AIF in September 2000.I want to touch the sky, I want to fly so high ~ Sonique
AggieDave 6 #17 January 5, 2002 Looks like I'm lagging. I think I made 50 jumps this year (damn gearless college student exsistance). Thats ok, they were great jumps, and I'll have even more this year. A POPs jumper once told me "don't worry about getting in a rush, you have the next 40 years to make more skydives." He told me that when I was venting about $$ and college and skydiving and how none of them work together very well.I went to a Grateful Dead Concert and they played for SEVEN hours. Great song. -- Fred Reuss
des 2 #18 January 5, 2002 a littleadvice here.i have at least 6 friends who stopped logging at 1000 jumps.all regret it ,and all but 1 have started logging again, although obviously re-started at a guess,(i'm sure all of them made an under estimation).all are now in the 4-7000 range, but don't really know.not that it's important, just that they regret it!.might as well log 'em,don't take that much time.have to admit tho ,none of mine are signed, but I KNOW it's accurate.again ,just my thoughts.des

weid14 0 #20 January 5, 2002 yes you caught them, we're you below them or ontop of them? if the plane is traveling over the ground slowly (high uppers), you need much more time between groups. Or, if you are learning to sit, you could have zoomed all over the sky, too. We had a newbie sit flier zoom by our 4way last year, she didn't give NEAR enough time. Had another 4way open so close to us, I had to do a rear riser manuver to avoid one. They said they waited till we turned a point before exit -- well we average a little over a second to transition to the next point on exit, so can't use that method either. best to find out whatteh uppers are nad asked a more experienced jumper how much time between groups. Bill Von had a handy quick and dirty way of calculating the time needed, but I can't remember it now. now, back to the regular scheduled program: My pro-track has me at 300+ jumps this year . most (95%) 4way. AggieDave 6 #21 January 5, 2002 I was still on top of them, though I was looking between my feet and could see them.
