chickenhawk420 0 #51 January 8, 2002 OK, just askin... need a boobies, asss and beer thread that must get you going
 bill2 0 #52 January 8, 2002 The real problem with sort of incident is all the publicity it's going to get. The media will trot out all the usual talking heads who are supposed to be "experts" (who have their head up their asses) in their fields. They will make the usual pronouncements about a particular factor that was at the root cause of all this, or that this particular list of characteristics will identify the next killer. Or the usual bullshit call for banning something, music with certain lyrics/small planes/ guns, etc. The reality is that some kids just screw up, others screw up when they've supposedly had the best life possible, others will do fine no matter they come up against. As others in this thread have pointed out, raising kids is a crap shoot. I hope this doesn't lead a call for banning or strictly limiting general aviation, which could hurt skydiving. And I'm trying really hard not to jump in on the gun control issue, I'm a gun owner.. I better stop right now.
 AggieDave 6 #53 January 8, 2002 Bill, check some of the old threads, we've done gun control issues a few times in the past. Basically it gets really really nasty in here since we have both sides of the fence and both parties believe strongly in what they believe in.I think last time we all agreed to let it go because it was becoming a pretty big drag on everything. Over here we had dunblane which was horrible and it changed our gun laws (only rifles, shotguns and small calibre, .22, can be owned). The problem is this, at the time the police openly admitted that leagal ownership wasn't the problem because guns used in crime where nearly always blackmarket, it was unusual for people to use their own or steal them. Now does it strike anyone else how stoopid this is, so a .22 can't kill, a shotgun (the choice weapon for armed robberies) can still be legally obtained and very deadly.Even with gun laws, it won't stop the inconspicous houses doing a trade.
