Ya know, I'm SURE that one day soon that will be happening...

I think you're right. Yuri said they are working on that. I'm sure they're not trying yet, but they were talking about gaining speed and then "pulling up" to actually gain a little altitude. I can't wait to see that.

And maybe going a little down hill to help slide along...I guess it would probably help if he/she wore some kevlar armor under the suit. Atleast chest and groin...can you imagine hitting a rock/stick/rodent or something landing in a wing suit? D'OH!

If I were a betting man, and if they were smart...they might consider snow

Oooo. Even better. Find a nice, long straight, steep slope and ease it in. Can you imagine the looks on Biff & Buffy's faces as some guy goes screaming past and belly slides about 300 yards downhill? We would definitely need video. :S

hahahhaha, i just saw the rodent part. That was the funniest mental pic I've had in a while. Guy in birdman suit haulin ass down a snowy slope. Completely unsuspecting squirrel gets up from hibernation to stretch and gets its head ripped off by birdman's foot as it leaves its hole. LOL....sheesh, I think i'm getting tired...:S

Can you imagine some stuck up rich skier yuppies coming down the slops at a leasurly pace scared shitless because a jumper came screaming down out of no where and belly slid a few hundred yards yelling and screaming, getting up, going nutz and screaming stuff about Beer and stuff. And having his buddies who followed him out pulling long/hard swoops right up after him...Wow, that would be funny as hell.

and owns a wind suit

Does this mean he passes "wind" in the suit? Or is it a special "wind" suit, designed to keep others in the plane from knowing he "passes wind"?? Or maybe it has a tiny hole in the seat so he can track further and faster?? Are there any special foods involved?? Lol...

Mountainman-
Isn't swooping the latest fad and how many dumb asses have hooked themselves into the ground. The day someone lands a wing or birdman and walks away will be a sad day. Every body will want to try it and 99.99% of those who do will probably end up killing themselves. I believe there is a thresh hold in skydiving that shouldn't be crossed. Theres too many inexperienced people trying to jump on the band wagon.

Thats a good point, but personally- I dont believe many people will try that. Its way too freakin risky, i dont care HOW slow they think they can get. 60mph? 50? Even 40? Still dead, or so badly dismembered they'll never be able to even think of jumping out of a plane again. Once everyone sees how much of a failure that will be, I dont think too many more will try it. Like you said, theres a threshold that shouldnt be crossed, and I think most experienced skydivers can recognize it. If their stupid enough to attempt to land a wingsuit on ANYTHING, be it water, snow or land then thats gonna be their and their family's problem. Just my .02...

Marshman-
A majority of skydivers are smart, but there will be someone who will try to land a wing or birdman. I don't think they will stop till someone successfully lands one. Jumpers will die trying to be the first to do it. God Bless his soul.
