Las Vegas area dropzone worth going to...

Recommended Posts

Are there any DZs within 3-4 hours of Las Vegas worth going to? I will be in Las Vegas in February and would love to get a few jumps in. I remember that the Las Vegas area DZ had some problems with the USPA. If I remember they wouldn't let outsiders jump there. Also they only have small Cessnas for jump plains. Nice airplanes but not worth dragging my rig from PA to jump from.
Thanks for input

Well if your talking 3-4 hrs away.....Elsinore and perris are about 4 hrs!!! And if your in Downtown LV check out the windtunnel there. That thing was kick ass!!!!!!!!!! its just east off the new strip next to the new stardust on conventional Dr.

The Las Vegas Gravity Zone is prolly about 1/2 hour south of Vegas. It's run by the folks who run the Flyaway wind tunnel in Vegas (right next to the Riviera).
If you can't make it to the DZ I would recommend doing time in the tunnel. Eeven though the air there isn't as good as Orlando's, it's still time well spent IMHO.

Dan I think people have answered your qusetion. thers is Elsinore and parris approx 4hrs away, Jean (which I believe is gravity zone) which was 1/2hr away, mesquite will have a plane there the 8,9,10 which is approx 1.5hrs away and then there is the windtunnel in LV. What more do you want. Hell we even threw in some midgets and whores for a fare price:)jason
all theses palces are very good from what I've heard

Yes - for great dzs within 3-4 hours, Perris or Elsinore. I went to the dz in Jean 2 weeks ago. Nice people but it is a small 2-Cessna dz and it is a little pricey. $19 to 10k. OUCH!, now that's expensive altitude.

In reply to chop Jean does normally operate just small cessnas but after the 10th of feb. sky dive saltlakes caravan will be in jean for pretty much the rest of the month. this will be due to the olympics grounding all general aviation flights in utah for feb. so enjoy our misfortune.
