Viking 0 #1 January 21, 2002 Well i did my 16th jump today. I did a rolling exit and kept the tuck for about 5 secs. Then i did a front flip, and thena back flip. Did a couple barrel roles. Then i noticed something really odd. It felt as if my rig had lifted off my back. I looking behind me and everything was in place. I looked underneath me what do i see but my jumpsuit flapping in the wind. It split open right down the zipper on my chest and turn into a large airbrake. this made me very unstable and i started rocking back and forth. This cuased the shirt i was wearing to ride up and cover my handels and chest strap!!! this kinda got me worried b/c if i couldn't keep stable when i pulled and had to use my reserve my shirt would be in the way!! Anyway i kept stable as possible and pulled at 4K. only one line twist that came out by itself. I was laughing the whole way down thinking of the possible nicknames that would come from this. If you don't remember this happened on my AFF lvl1 jump too. Ok bring on the smart ass remarks and nick names. Jessica 0 #3 January 21, 2002 Hey Viking -- if you'd had to pull your cutaway and/or reserve, you can still get at them with your shirt covering 'em. Just grasp them, even if there's material covering them, and yank as hard as you can. Don't waste time trying to pull your shirt away from the handles, if you're ever in a situation like that and have to use your emergency procedures.Of course, check with instructors.My nickname vote: Disco Gumby.Pet me! NewGuy 0 #4 January 21, 2002 This has happened to me a couple of times (having the jump suit unzip). One of the guys at our DZ was only wearing boxers underneath when his suit unzipped. Unfortunately for us his 'package' was fully exposed in free fall and when he landed. hehe.
