SpeedRacer 1 #1 January 31, 2002 Has anyone here jumped at the Chambersburg Skydiving Center in Pennsylvania?I'm working on buying a house in Frederick MD. My realtor says that I might be able to get one with no (or very little) money down, which would mean that I wouldn't have to sell my rig, and I could return to skydiving again! MUAHAHAHAHA!!(oh please oh please oh please!!)Anyway, if I do, the closest DZ will be the one in Chambersburg, PA. From the map it looks like it would only be about an hour away! Big change for me, since I've been driving 2.5 hrs to get to DZs.So does anyone know anything about this DZ? I know they have a King Air, but their website doesn't tell much. & I wanna hear people's personal opinions of the place.Speed Racer"Fill your hand, you son-of-a-bitch!" Jimbo 0 #2 January 31, 2002 I stopped by there once, but couldn't jump due to weather. It seemed to me to be a small DZ where everyone knows everyone. The landing area was huge and the view of the trees and the mountains was beautiful. If it were closer I'd drop in once in a while, but it's too damn far for me. Stacy jumped there in an NSL meet - she can tell you more.
weid14 0 #3 January 31, 2002 It's a nice DZ, DZO(s) are very friendly, very laid back place. (they dont' get started to early). teh DZO only schedules like 20 students per day so everyone can fun jump. They were jumping a king air, but a caravan was there when I was (4way meet). Stacy 0 #4 January 31, 2002 very nice dz. king air usually, i believe the caravan was for the meet only, but i could be wrong about that. the airport is pretty big, landing area is flat. outdoor packing on tarps. seemed like the jumpers there were really friendly, DZO is really cool- we had a video mal for a round and he sent up a load w/extra altitude just for us. bonus points for him!Stacyhttp://users.snip.net/~stacy
weid14 0 #5 January 31, 2002 the landing area is NOT flat IMO, there is a smaller section that is fairly flat, but a lot of the grassy, non-farmed area is more like typical rolling countryside.
Stacy 0 #6 January 31, 2002 maybe that's why i have such issues with landing. i know there were those little hills to the left of the packing area. the rest seemed flat to my feet-knees face approaches. =c)Stacyhttp://users.snip.net/~stacy
