What was your first motivation for skydiving?

Mine was, my boyfriend and I broke up.

Now you ladies don't take this the wrong way, but I've noticed that a *lot* of women take it up after breaking up with their boyfriend/spouse. I have my theories for why, but I'll spare everyone the psychobabble.
Me personally? It was on my list of things to do for a long time. I just finally had the time & money to do it. I had bungee jumped a few months before so I was pretty sure going into it that I'd be hooked.

I think I had two reasons at first. I'd always loved flying and aviation; Topgun was my favorite movie when I was little and my room was covered with pictures of airplanes. The other reason is that I thought it would make me cool. It didn't, but I love it so much that's not important anymore. ;)

Me and a friend talked the talk for years about it, never got around to arranging it.
This year I hit 36yrs so I felt it was now or never, using the internet I scanned every site I could leech information off (including this one).
And now we are gonna walk the walk (although my friend is getting very spooked about it after watching some of the movies I have downloaded especially that cypress low pull one).
Anyway it's all booked now and i can't f**kin wait :S

It was something that always fascinated me, but just never gave a serious thought. Maybe because, I didn't know anyone who was a skydiver or had ever done a jump! Face it, this is not a sport that you hear a lot about or is publicized very much. I didn't know where to go, to do it. This last year a friend of mine wanted to do a tandem and asked if I wanted to do one also. Of course, I couldn't answer "yes" fast enough! The sport has changed so much over the years, that a tandem jump seemed perfect! Well, a month after my first tandem I did another one. I can't imagine anyone doing their first jump and not wanting to do it again. I am "hooked"!

My dad had done a bunch of static line jumps back in the 70's and i found his rig in a closet one day. I did my tandem at Snore on my 20th b-day and then just forgot about it for almost a year. Then i met a guy at school that is friend the DZO. He got me interested in jumpin again, and then just as summer ended i started my aff. I still don't have my A license >:( i think maybe in a couple more months :(

I never thought about skydiving untill one day I saw this Geiko commercial where they threw the insurance agents out of a plane. I know it sounds pretty weird, but ever since that commercial I really wanted to jump out of a plane. Since I had a fear of heights I kept puting it off, untill one day I decided to just go ahead and do it. I called the DZ, booked a tandem, and well here I am now.

Combine my 30th birthday, losing my father to a heart attack when he was way too bloody young, and the need to get a new perspective on the world, and there are a few of my reasons to do something new and extreme. Wanting to fly all my life, watching the Skyhawks, and living near a DZ made skydiving the easy choice.

After my first tandem...which kinda scared the crap outa me!...i got hooked. Then i decided i wanted to conquer another skill and learn how to relax more. In the field of law, there's a lot of pressure (you know Zennie!) And i also find that this sport...like anything else in life...you have to plan, reherse and visualize your jump to be prepared. but the best thing is your free & having fun doing it!
What you "think" you cannot do ...you CAN if you "think" about it ;)

You know im not sure why i made that first jump but i do remember telling my brother several years ago after his first jump that he was crazy. Then i decided if he can do it so can i . He only did 2 jumps though. I just hit number 100 today had to do a hop n pop for it how exciting. Cant complain though 6 jumps today and 1 yesterday not too bad.
