DZ in Sarasota, FL?

Recommended Posts

I've never heard of one being in Sarasota. Maybe Tampa is your best bet on the west coast. But, if you're going there, Sarasota is a great place to visit...that's where I grew up.

Naples is currently doing beach jumps at Ft. Myers beach instead of at Immokalee Airport. Using a C-182 to 10 K and meeting up at Page Field near Fort Myers. They are a small dz and having troubles with the insurance since 9/11 but I am going down on Saturday to do the first Naples Beach Jump. Must have a USPA C License if you are interested. However, I believe there is a new dz near Sarasota but I can not remember the name. Sorry.

There used to be a Skydive America near Naples, think they called it "The origional Skydive America" or something so as not to confuse it with Skydive America Palm Beach, which was really the origional one(I think).
Ah screw it dude, can't you just hit the east coast of Florida instead? There's about 100 DZs on this side.

Mike...I checked that out but they don't say anything about jumping on the beach in Ft Myers. What gives?
Here is what I'm talking about:

Naples IS meeting up at Page Field in Fort Myers and jumping out over Fort Myers Beach and landing at the Holiday Inn. Call the dz at 1.888.447.JUMP to find out more. It is a small plane and I know they have tandems so call before you come. It might be closed the dz'ers only. I used to jump there all the time but I have been in Orlando for a few weeks and missed out on the info. I got a call from some jumpers there...it is happening...and I am jumping. Call.

Collier County was going to make Jim West, the owner, have insurance on it whenever the dz already had all the insurance. Has to do with 9/11 and I am sure that kid who crashed in Tampa. This county is harsh. They are trying to work out the details but I believe they will be doing beach jumps until it is all figured out.

Cause I'm going to be in Ft Myers for a day or two to visit family, so I thought I'd hit another DZ or two while I was there - just trying to figure out who is where. I thought I read something about beach jump in sarasota too, which would work out well. Clewiston is over there somewhere too... wonder if they still have that Cessna 195 ...

Yeah, Clewiston is up near Lake Okeechobee I think, southern tip. Skydive American PB is on the SE end of the same lake.
Closest to Myers would be skydive Naples then I think. How long you staying down for?
