skybytch 273 #62 February 8, 2002 C'mon now, if you're gonna do it this weekend, make it official - post a list of those who'll be on the record PRIOR to the day of the jump. So if you're gonna do it on Saturday, post your list of participants tonight. If you're gonna do it on Sunday, post your list Saturday night. And like zennie said, no running to the DZ computer to get someone signed up - all participants need to have been registered at least 24 hours prior to the record attempt. We'll be posting our list on Friday afternoon, March 1st.And we ain't worried at all.... the record is coming to California! pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo? PhreeZone 20 #63 February 9, 2002 Better cherish it while you can.... Once the CASA returns, we've got 25 people already signed up on here that will hop in on a big way or two. On a side note.... I got to reviewing my video from my FL trip an on the 18 way that built to 12 we had 9 dz.com members. Had we tossed two of the base out and a late diver out, we were all dz.com members that got in Political Correctness-At least one person at any one time will be offended by something
airann 1 #64 February 9, 2002 Levin and I will be out in the afternoon - fair warning! Sland!!But I can not belly fly! I could film it - I suppose. but if Tammi is still there and she is in- We jump well together belly style. LOL That is if Scotty is on the other side of me!!Damn, I will miss those two after they are gone. I zipped out last week for a jump and to see them and to make sure I got to see them before they leave for Florida. I dont know how I will make it without my Unkle Scotty.http://www.AirAnn.comUgly Girl #
skybytch 273 #65 February 9, 2002 Quotethe 18 way that built to 12 we had 9 dz.com members. Oh yeah, good point... we won't call it a record if the dive doesn't complete in the air as it was dirt dived on the ground.pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo? AggieDave 6 #66 February 9, 2002 Can't do that Bytch, since it's been done already. What makes, makes, aslong as it is 100% DZ.commers AND it was a planned record attempt. Hell, if someone could plan a DZ.com 50 way, but only 9 made it, then there it is. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
skybytch 273 #67 February 9, 2002 We play by the real rules out here in fruit and nut land - if it doesn't complete as planned - everyone in and in their slot, it ain't a record. pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo?
indyz 1 #68 February 9, 2002 So the Spaceland record doesn't count? I've seen the video, and no way in hell did that go as planned. --BrianHomepage
AggieDave 6 #69 February 9, 2002 No, the Spaceland jump didn't go totally as dirt dived. Although our dirt dive was simple: everyone jump, make a circle. A couple (three) people didn't make it in. Now, since everyone, including yourself Lisa, didn't object when we did the record, then the record should stand, especially since that was three months ago. If you want to quantify all future jumps, then state your opinion at this time. The beatings will continue until morale improves.
skybytch 273 #70 February 9, 2002 I am not saying that the current record is not legitimate and shouldn't stand. I'm saying that the new record, the one that will be set in California early next month, will be flown as dirt dived, slot perfect with everyone in.I think we need input from everyone else before deciding if future records should be held to that standard. Personally, I think they should since we'll be going into double digits and that's how "real" records are judged.pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo?
PhreeZone 20 #71 February 9, 2002 Absolutly Lisa... Slot perfect or it don't count. I don't know if I'd go as far as saying grip perfect too but.... It'll definatly raise the bar in terms of making sure they are safe dives.Political Correctness-At least one person at any one time will be offended by something
Zennie 0 #72 February 9, 2002 Requiring the record be jumped as dirt dived is fair enough. But that sort of begs the question WRT speed stars. Get a good set of 20 jumpers together to build a speed star and they'll build it. No slots there. So if that's the plan and the dive goes as planned (i.e. all 20 get in) is that a record?"Zero Tolerance: the politically correct term for zero thought, zero common sense." skybytch 273 #73 February 9, 2002 QuoteGet a good set of 20 jumpers together to build a speed star and they'll build it. Well.. get over about 10-15 people and a star is one of the more difficult formations to build and hold - they tend to have one side float or drop, and if everyone isn't concentrating on legs out they can develop a lot of tension. We're planning to use formations that are a bit easier to build and fly - for example, a four to six way base with loops and stingers, whackers, etc. - where being slot perfect is more important. As these records get bigger (cuz we all know they will pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo?
Jessica 0 #74 February 9, 2002 This makes me a little sad. Requiring "slot-perfect" skydives for dz.com record attempts suddenly grossly limits the members who can participate. SCRs and SCSes certainly aren't "slot-perfect," as a general rule, but they're awesome because by their very nature they include low-timers with high-timers. I don't think they're unsafe. *shrug*But that's me. I'd just hate to see something that started out as a little bit of fun become a rule-riddled rivalry. freefallfreak 0 #75 February 9, 2002 Jessica,Wow...a dose of reality...thanks...I think I needed that...I was just thinking about this and had (sorta) forgotten that low timers and veterans alike sometimes don't fly alike, nor with the same expertise. Making sometimes hard to hit targets a real challenge by adding rules that may discourage some, turns this game into competition...so I'll opt to go with you on this and hope it doesn't get too difficult for a lot of us...that way the lot of us can participate...TripleF BOOBIES, BOOBIES, BOOBIES, BOOBIES...(Whoops, I said it again...Tee-hee...)
