FallinWoman 1 #1 February 12, 2002 Ok...here is my story! In the middle of November I had a jump where my finger got caught in the three rings on opening (I know...don't grab there!) I ended up with a huge blood blister and a sore middle finger on my right hand.It was painful, but got better....until the last month or so when it started getting progressively worse. I was reduced to tears every time I tried to pack. I finally went to a doctor.Good news: not broken, no surgery needed (dammit, I wanted a four week cast and then to be done!!!)Bad news: torn ligaments, 12-18 month healing on their own, nothing can be done. WHAT!!!!My doc offered me a cortisone shot in the knuckle. I accepted. This was Friday at 9 am. My whole finger was so swollen after the shot that I could not bend it. The swelling extended to my other fingers and my hand and down into my wrist. I was in more pain over the weekend than I had ever been with my stupid finger....there is no way I could have packed. Throwing out is questionable!!!!Finally this morning (three days later) I am feeling a bit of relief. I sure wish my doc had told me it would take 72 hours for the shot to kick in and they would be a very painful 72 hours!!!!!Who would have thought that a little finger injury could wreak so much havoc???Anne
