There's just something about watching amateurs compete, who have trained thier whole lives for this chance to represent their country. Last night, I was cheering for a pairs figure skating team who wern't even American because the girl was competing with a broken foot in a 4 1/2 minute program.But, the best part of last night for me was the 3 American smowboard medalists standing on the podium, with the 3 American flags flying, and you could hear the spectators singing along with the National Anthem-SWEET!AndreaThe brave may not live forever, but the timid may not live at all. freefallfreak 0 #5 February 12, 2002 I absolutely love the downhill skiing...I ski but not anywhere remotely as good as those people...it still is a great thing to do in the winter when I can't jump...I just have to travel a little farther to find a good place...been to Gatlinburg and the runs there were nice but I wish there were someplace a little closer. christopherm 0 #6 February 12, 2002 I didn't watch it but I'm really kind of upset at what happened in pairs figure skating. The Russians have won gold for the past 10 olympics or so and now they have done it again. The Canadians did a much better performance than the Russians and everyone has agreed on this. Scott Hamilton said there were many more technical errors in the Russians performance, but somehow they still won. Guess who the judges were that voted the Russians higher, go ahead and guess before you read on. Yep you were right at least with the first one, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, and France. Now France, who knows what's up with them and who ever does but the rest of them?! I don't think this has been a coincidence of pure honesty.
