freebird 0 #1 February 16, 2002 IM going to start cyling since I can't jump for a few months.Im trying to get a bunch of skydivers to go on a group ride once a month. In Houston. The longer you wait ........the more sense you get.
Jumperpaula 0 #2 February 16, 2002 Sounds like fun, but GOOD LUCK. I've learned, it's hard to get skydivers to commit to anything that is not skydiving related. Fly Your Slot !
AggieDave 6 #3 February 16, 2002 Road or Mt? Houston has some great trails for the knobby tire types. Road bikes are worth the time or the money...(I used to be a hard-core moutain biker, still dable "Alright, at 4500 lets break it, turn 360 and track away..." freebird 0 #4 February 16, 2002 I'd like to try road biking first. What is a decent road bike. The longer you wait ........the more sense you get.
AggieDave 6 #5 February 16, 2002 A Harley Fat Boy...(go to a bike shop, a good one, not wal-mart or something, and look at Specialized and Trek, you can't go wrong. "Alright, at 4500 lets break it, turn 360 and track away..."
freebird 0 #6 February 16, 2002 I thought riding around the back country roads in Rosharon would be a nice ride. The longer you wait ........the more sense you get.
AggieDave 6 #7 February 16, 2002 They can be, I prefer a nice tight winding single track. The beauty of nature, not making a noise, just riding swiftly through the woods...If you ride back roads, go buy a can of pepper spray and mount it (velcro) to your top tube. Not for people, but for dogs. Ever since one time that Flying Ferret and I were riding some back roads and got chased by 6 Rotweilers, that's been a rule. "Alright, at 4500 lets break it, turn 360 and track away..."

freebird 0 #10 February 16, 2002 Just once a month. It would be fun, we could ride out to spaceland and get there just in time for the beer light! I actually do not like beer. I can make some yummy mixed drinks that will knock someone on their ass!!!!The longer you wait ........the more sense you get.
AggieDave 6 #11 February 16, 2002 Never riden it. Driven Highway 6 many many times to and from school, but...sorry, don't know about the bike trail.Go to a local bike shop and talk to them, they'll have tons of info about ridding and stuff for your area."Alright, at 4500 lets break it, turn 360 and track away..." flyingferret 0 #12 February 16, 2002 Dave,I had forgotten all about that. That brings back memories. I think Iam gonna start riding again this fall. Sounds really good. There is a bad ass single track-stick-your -head-out-and-hit-a-tree section at Cleburne state park.malachi
skip 0 #13 February 17, 2002 If you exit (south) at like Eldridge or Dairy Ashford, go just past memorial and park at any shopping center. There are bridges just past memorial, which lead down to what I think people call the Hochiemhin Trail, or maybe it’s the anthills. Very nice ride, you can take the walkways or take any of the neurmous dirt trails and go for miles. There are actually some really great hills (some a little out of my league). There are also some trails in Memorial park, though I’ve never ridden. I used to ride quite a bit; actually my favorite was urban biking through downtown and all the barrios. Unfortunately my bike was stolen about 6 months ago, and though I have had my ear to the ground looking for a new one, I find myself spending all my money skydiving. If you get something together though let me know, I’m totally down and hope to have a new bike shortly..:skip
SpeedRacer 1 #14 February 17, 2002 I've gota road bike that needs gear adjustment.. sell it for 45$... it's a Monterey 10 speed, with a new seat. Problem with it, if anyone can help me out...it had two levers, one for controlling 5 speeds & the other for switching between speeds 1-5 & 6-10...So the problem is, this lever kept flipping up at the wrong time, i.e. when you stopped at a traffic light. Causing you to have to begin from a stop in sixth gear....So I screwed down the gear shift so it would always stay in the lower five gears... I'm sure someone who knew more about bikes could easily fix this problem....so I'm selling a good road bike for only $45... O I also replaced the seat w/ a soft, ergonomic one that wont threaten to damage a man's a..er..abilities....!Speed Racer"Fill your hand, you son-of-a-bitch!" AggieDave 6 #15 February 17, 2002 Sounds like you need to check your cables and the derailer. Clean, lube, maybe replace the cables. Make sure the adjustment springs are set properly on the derailer, too."Alright, at 4500 lets break it, turn 360 and track away..."
SpeedRacer 1 #16 February 17, 2002 screw that....I'm sellingit for a cheap price..let someone else deal & then they can sell it for double...Speed Racer"Fill your hand, you son-of-a-bitch!"

Pammi 0 #20 February 18, 2002 Phewy! True cyclists spend a LOT of money on their bikes...even the tires are outrageous! I don't think I could afford another such addiction :)Closing pin jewelry
AggieDave 6 #21 February 18, 2002 Quotecyclists spend a LOT of money on their bikesWhy do you think I'm not a hard-core Mt. Biker anymore, eh? I need new shocks (nuked mine), some new SPD shoes, an upgrade to XTR, new rims, and a few other nik-nacs...rather spend it on jumping right now. I have found, though, that any sport of hobby that seems worth doing and looks like it would be a lot of fun turns out to cost a lot of money. Well, I guess weight lifting doesn't, but..."Alright, at 4500 lets break it, turn 360 and track away..."
skymedic 0 #22 February 18, 2002 I have a FELT from about 5 yrs ago...full Campy Record with 10spd.....and all the toys for it that I could afford at the time....too bad I now skydive....I'd rather be at the DZ than on my bike....marc"...a mind stretched with new idea's will never regain its shape"
freebird 0 #23 February 18, 2002 I think that cycling is more attainable for me right now. I think 5 to 6 hundred is all I would spend on a bike. I will need a helmet and a few other accessories. Im spending the BIG bucks on a rig in the later part of this summer. I think that bike riding will be good for my recovery after the transplant.I am going to start skydiving again in the fall. I want to really work on trying to get a group of jumpers or anyone to go on a long distance ride once a month.Don't have to be a HARD CORE biker dude with a 3000 dollar bike. Just some nice fun rides. The longer you wait ........the more sense you get.
airann 1 #24 February 19, 2002 Medic it was a 'fast bike' and a really pretty SILVER/BLUE Motobecane, French- and they have not been imported for years. Get this- I bought it in Fayettenam NC right there off the Ft Bragg base somewhere. That is where I started. Got pretty good here in Tx too. I rode every morning at 21 mph for 11 miles. Then I got back into skateboarding again and sports photography.About the weight, It was made of kyrptionite and helium. At the time, I weighed about 97 lbs, and was on my first really cool husband. As I remember, it was not a big bike. And built for nothing but fast. I know one thing I could pick it up and swing it around my head, so it did not weigh much at all. Trouble was I was always getting flats. THAT I remember really good.
