Darkzone 0 #1 February 16, 2002 I no longer look up at the sky...I looked in my log book today and was gobsmacked to see that it has been 8 months, 8 MONTHS since I last jumped!Twice since my last jump I have been let down at the last minute by the wonderful English weather. Once while at altitude we hit the top of a raincloud which nearly tipped us all out so down we came (f**k!) and second whilst waiting at the enplaning point for the plane to land from the previous lift the weather turned bad and the jump was cancelled (F**K!!!)A combination of having to work when the weather was good and bad weather on my days off all conspired to stop me jumping. (f**k, f**k, f**k and F**K!!!!!)To make matters worse, I am stuck at Cat 6 on RAPS and have just celebrated(?) my 40th birthday (am I eligible to join POPS even without gaining may A licence yet?) and don't know if I'll ever jump again!!Please, someone out there tell me that everything will be okay, that the weather will get better and that this is all just a horrible nightmare and I will wake up in the shower and find that only a day or two have passed since my last jump, PLEEEEEEASE! Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!!
Emmie 0 #2 February 16, 2002 Everything will be ok. You can't give up on hoping, one day the clouds will part, and the sun will come out, and you will finally jump. New England weather's kind of similar, I was at the dropzone for 3 months, 4 days a week, and I still only managed to get a handful of jumps because of the wind, so I feel your pain. Cheer up, its almost spring!
Darkzone 0 #3 February 17, 2002 Thanks Emmy.I forgot to mention that lack of funds was a significant factor also. You don't have any spare jump tickets....er....lying around unused....do you?Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!!
SkydiveMonkey 0 #4 February 17, 2002 Last time I jumped was 24th November, and that's cos of crappy weather. You'll get to jump sometime !!! You shouldn't put a knife in the toaster - but you're an adult now !!!
Lizard 0 #5 February 17, 2002 I understand as well, I finally got 2 jumps in a few days ago after not jumping in 7 months. GET BACK IN THE BIRD! Once your in the air and going to altitude, look outside at how beautiful the world is from your view. Bad weather, finances, all that is part of it, but stay focused and dont give up, next thing you know, your on jump run. I do hope all goes well with you.Jeff
skybytch 273 #6 February 17, 2002 You'll jump again...soon... even in England the weather has to clear eventually! And yes, you are eligible for POPS on your 40th b-day; only requirement for membership is that you've made one jump. pull and flare,lisa--What would Scooby Doo? Your encouragement has spurred me into action and I've started reading through all the books, mags, this forum etc, just to remind myself of what I thought I'd forgotten (I hadn't) and to bring back the memories of the few (37) jumps that I've made so far that hey, maybe weren't so long ago after all. You people are beautiful, man!Still need more bleedin' money though!Must jump, must jump, must jump!!Whooooohooooo!!! Hahahaha!!!
