Sweet! 2002 Harley Davidson Classic aghhhhh, I want a bike...stupid expensive college...
Actually, I'm wanting to build something myself, get a nice frame with something like a 3" stretch and a 34deg rake...put a Harley v-twin in there...fat tire...yeah! Someday, someday.
Sometime before I'm 30 I want to pack my rig (and gear), a pancho and a blanket on a bike and go DZ hopping for a few weeks (like 6 weeks). Now I just need a skychick who's willing to leave "life" for 6 weeks to join me in living life. (or did I find one...hmmmm). Of course we'd build her a bike too...;):)"I said don't look Ethel, It was too late, she'd already been incensed... "

I remember my first vehicle (car not motorcycle). It was my 16th birthday and my parents took me to the car dealership and told me I could pick out whatever I wanted. I was so excited and I searched all over and there it was...the car of my dreams...an AMC Pacer in bright orange! Man, was I cool in that car!:S
Congrats on your new harley!

My first vehicle and first love was and still is my 1973 SuperBeetle (1302). Nice ride, loved it, still have it and its just waiting for me to finish school and get a real job so I can rebuild it. :)"I said don't look Ethel, It was too late, she'd already been incensed... "

First car......1970 Camaro 350, T-400 Trans, Dyno'd at 373 HP. Had a 2.73 gear in the back so I really have no idea how fast it would go. Only that it would BURY a Sun 150 MPH speedometer. It's pretty amazing lived through my teenage years....:)"I only have a C license, so I don't know shit..right?"-Clay

Please tell me you're kidding.... Or have you always been a dweeb?

Of course I am kidding! What made me think of that story is remembering my High School years. When I was 16 I had quite a few classmates whose Mommies and Daddies did take them to the dealerships to pick out their first cars. So in my High School parking lot was a few Mercedes, Trans Ams, Mustangs, BMW's and my brown 1973 Ford LTD!
OK, so I didn't have the coolest car, but they are all fat and ugly now and I'm not!;)

When I was 15 my parents started asking about what kind of car I was wanting to get, even though they couldn't afford anything new. The were asking more of a do you want a pickup or car type of question and were going to buy something decent, used.
I surprised them when I said I wanted an old VW Beetle (I love those things :)So, the point is, I didn't have the expensive car, the most reliable car, or for a while the prettiest car (eventually got a sweet custom paint job...), BUT my parents gave me the chance to learn and that's a hell of a lot more then people like my neihbors got (new BMWs, read: one even got a Z3...)

Oh...PS...I have never owned anything new except a 94 Honda XR250L. That's the only thing I have ever bought new from a dealership and actually the newest vehicle I have ever owned. I have a saying for my 82 Jeep CJ-7. "Jeep...it's not just transportation, It's a Hobby!!!" :D Been driving it since 1991. I have a love hate relationship with it.....

First car:
Olive drab 1968 Plymouth Valiant 100 Sport
(This was in 1986 and it had 180,000 miles and a cracked exhaust manifold.)
Second car:
1972 Volvo 142 w/overdrive
(1988. Car had 120,000 miles)
Thid car:
1975 GMC K-5 Jimmy (Full size)
(1989. Either 140,000 or 240,000 miles.)
... skip 13 years
Current car:
1987 Mazda RX7
All kinds of mechanical and electrical defects (decribed in some other thread) and some indeterminate (170k-ish) number of miles, due to a replaced speedometer/odometer pod.
NEW CAR? Hah! I don't think it will ever happen for me. Too damned much money. There are better things to spend cash on than a brand new automobile. :)Justin
