I thought as a general rule, we were keeping Aggies away from bonfires, for safety. I still can't understand how/why you all did that stuff.

I did not laugh, and did not make any "fun" smileys. I think it is tragic. However, I cannot understand either the tradition or what (in my opinion) were insufficient safety practices.
I feel that the 12 dead, 27 injured and countless more emotionally scarred need not have happened. I'm sorry for all of them, and your loss.

If you want, I can write out what the Aggie Bonfire meant to me and why we did it and how it was acutally a fairly safe operation, but I think it would be best to take it off the forums. PM or e-mail me if you want.

I come from the other side of the tracks on this issue. I always felt being a UT Longhorn it was a funny way for the Aggie to get pumped up. On the other hand while I was in college I dated an aggie and had gone to 2 of the bon-fires. As AggieDave had pointed out... It's hard to explain from either side. I enjoyed the pride that 12th man means and is in Colelge Station... I'm soooooooo glad no one found out I was a "tea-sipper" while I was there tho! Whew!

Dave and I chatted by PM and everything seems to be fine. There is no need to feel guilty.
I wouldn't say we "love each other". Being a guy, he isn't my type. But I don't think we'll get raucus and bust bottles over each other's heads, either. Well, unless we both get really drunk.
