WildBlue's got the blues....

Recommended Posts

Thought I'd drop this on here tonight....
WildBlue from here broke his right leg with a Tib spiral compound break today. Last I saw of him the Demeral was wearing off and he was getting ready to be wheeled away to have some hardware insertered. I'm not sure the extent of the injury, but let's just say the doctors were taking thier time today. (From the time he left the DZ I made 3 jumps, Packed, had 20 minute calls, and had time to BS for 30 minutes before I went to the hospital)
Lets send him a few vibes to recover and jump soon. :)WildBlue.... Welcome to the Heavy Metal Skydiving Club!

Phree is better, much better, but the pain is still there in cold weather. :( t is getting to the point where a roadtrip to jump a King Air at SI might not be out of the question....
As for Blue.... I was talking to someone who was with him when the doc was there and the Doc said he should have 100% recovery in a few months.
For any one interested Seth broke it under his Sabre2 170 at about a 1.25 wingloading at just about 400 jumps. From all accounts, his feet got under his body and then his body hit the ground smashing the foot and braking the bone in the process. The stills were shot on chance and before Bobo knew anything was wrong.

Yeah, I hope the dude gets better soon. Anybody who still thinks skydiving isn't dangerous should just follow these forums for a while : pyke, merrick, dove, wildblue, quite a few regular posters have been hurt badly. Not a pleasant thought, but I suppose you just have to accept that if you jump long enough and hard enough the chances are that you will pick up an injury or two. :(

Thanks guy and girls...
You can see from the still picture, it doesn't look likw Bad landing.... nothing I haven't done a few hundred times. Slightly cross-wind, little front riser turn going into it... no big deal right? As near as I can figure, I planed out just a little late, got my feet up under me, then one hit a rut, and dug into the soft muddy ground. My foot stopped moving, the rest of my big ass didn't. The small bone in the lower part of my leg (Tibia?) had been broken about 10 years ago during a freak paint-ball accident (some sorta thing, a muddy hill was involved) well this time we did one of those spiral fractures to it. And just for good measure, I went ahead and broke the big bone down there too (fibia?)
So... 3 screws, 2 pins, and a big 'ol cast later and here I am, out for 4 - 8 weeks :(
Thanks to everyone at the dz that helped out (once they figured out I was actually hurt, and not just laying there for giggles) And Harold for driving me, and Dave and Carrie for hanging out with me as I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours.... I'm sure that' not how they wanted to spend a nice sunday afternoon, but it was really nice having someone to talk to to keep the mind busy.
Be careful out there, wierd shit can happen...
Oh well.. time for more drugs....
