AndyMan 7 #2 February 28, 2002 If the setup is anything like last year - I wouldn't want to be on Dropzone Row. It's just too far from manifest, and well - everything.I don't know what the price difference is, but a tent in with the retail tents would be pretty cool. Even if it's on the edge of the retailers, the Brazillian federation did this last year. It's a huge file, but you can see a map here http://www.freefall.com/images/map.jpgICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999

Slappie 9 #8 March 1, 2002 So true, but if you think about it.. If they don't wrap up the contract where are they going to have it? It's way too late in the season to try and relocate again. They are behind schedule as it is. Also I've heard a rumor people are going to skip the WFFC and go to Summerfest instead. To much up in the air for the WFFC no one knows about facilities or camper palcement with water elec. ect....My New Website with 24hr Chat
PhreeZone 20 #9 March 1, 2002 I doubt Summerfest will be able to handle all the jumpers the WFFC has had in the past. Last year the crowd level was just about perfect, no more the 40 minutes for a plane, only had to wait for packing space a few times, a few camping spots empty, etc. A SDC regular can correct me here but I was told the total number for the entire week was only about 850. My wrist band was in the mid 600's and I got there Thursday. Anything more then 1000-1200 jumpers and SDC is going to be crowded imho. I'm thinking Couch Freaks or Lost Prarie are looking just as good to me since I can't get to Alaska for the Solstice boogie.Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush

Showering with strange men, who after that aren't so strange anymore....I think I met more people in the shower than anywhere else at the boogie... kallend 2,146 #12 March 1, 2002 The camp site at SDC has been significantly enlarged, and they've been working on improving the facilities all winter, in preparation for nationals. Don't know about the plane situation, but Roger doesn;t normally run into problems in that area.<<<< I doubt Summerfest will be able to handle all the jumpers the WFFC has had in the past. PhreeZone 20 #13 March 1, 2002 Very sweet, when I was there in December they had expand the trailer area, but I did'nt see much else changed since Summerfest. If a second hanger or more packing space was added then it should be able to hold another 500 jumpers easy enough.Cause I don't wanna come back down from this cloud... ~ Bush
regibitch 0 #14 March 1, 2002 Ok, IF the WFFC ends up in Rantoul, it will be partly because the facilities are READY TO GO. One of which is camping hookups with water, sewer and electricity for 200 RVs, right next to the shower houses.
regibitch 0 #15 March 1, 2002 We have had many people contacting us in the WFFC office regarding this years event. A few of them aren't skydivers, but people looking to do news articles on skydivers. We have one newsagency looking to do a story on a skydiving wedding, so if anybody is getting ready to take the plunge, contact me. Another international newsagency is looking to followup on a story that occured at the WFFC in 98. Apparently, there was a cutaway, and the photograper is the only contact for the Spanish skydiver who had the cutaway. (HEY, do you think he still OWES BEER?) Anyway, the newsagency is trying to contact photographer, Juan Barroso, so they can followup and do a story.
