What can I say? I just look good..... :D
I'm not allowed to alter my desktop here at work and it contains stuff like the company logo, phone book links, Client and vendor info, and other stuff on the desktop that will get me fired if I send it out.... so I'll need to post my home one tonight.

I've currenlty got 104 days of uptime on my windows 2000 production systems. I imagine the next time I reboot it will be something serious like a hardware failure.

The two hundred bucks for a licence doesn't bother me that much when we're running on $20,000 worth of hardware. What does bother me is that $200,000 they want for biztalk licencing. Anybody know of open sourced integration platforms?

Yeah, but I personally don't like having a big BULLS EYE painted onto my production machines. Don't get me wrong, 2000 is a good OS, I do use it at work and it DOES pay my bills, I just don't like the fact that every script kiddie out there is gunning for it.
It's kinds nice to look at my security logs every morn and see:
38 1860 deny log logamount 100 tcp from any to any 21
3358 213356 deny log logamount 100 tcp from any to any
35 43308 deny icmp from any to any
89 6942 deny log logamount 100 udp from any to any
137-139
919 65973 deny log logamount 100 ip from any to
Quite a few unauthorized connections trying to be established on a daily basis

I don't seem to beable to capture TV images with the screen shot proggie I use...

The only screenshot program you need is windows. Just push the Prt Scrn button up by the scroll lock and pause break. Then just paste it into photoshop or paintshop pro or something, that will let you save it.

I'm seeing WAY too many proprietary messaging programs.
Go to www.trillian.cc, download trillian.
Trillian will talk to users on AOL, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN. It also serves as a half decent IRC client.
Then you can be a geek like me and post 3 different IM addresses.

Here's a fairly staged screenshot. Blackbox window manager on top of XFree86 4.0.2 all on top of a Linux distro that started out as Debian Potato and slowly morphed into something unrecognizable. xemacs editing an XML-based image gallery templater in perl. Doesn't work yet. XMMS on the left with my playlist. The Aquabats rock. Freefliers in the background. 3 more virtual desktops, none of which I care to show you because they show private email addresses, screen names, or some seriously fucked up deviant hardcore pornography.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

How your computers allow you to have all that cool shit on it. Mine is plain. I bought it new with lots of memory but now it freaks out all the time. Oh well, I guess you need to know and understand them to be able to fix them.

i think one of the biggest culprits for a poorly operating machine (next to having windows for an os that is) is downloading and installing every bit of shareware you can find. some of them are poorly written and can chew up memory, overwrite critical system files etc... i do that to an extent, but then i flatten the machine and rebuild from scratch every couple of months. at work we are pretty restricted as to what we can run, and that helps as well... :)"Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all."

I remember back in the day, when programmers didn't waste all the resources that were available to them. They had to write efficient code, because computers couldn't handle sloppy coding and extraneous junk in the programs. Descent was an excellent example of this. That game was tiny by today's standards but it's still fun to play even now. :)20 million bathtubs can't be wrong. . .

Here is mine... I'm a big MS fan so this is my versoin of XP thats been totally tweaked and edited. My IE is now showing in the titlebar as "Micro$oft Internet Exploder provided by the People for Better Security in an OS" Everything that can be altered has been, but most of it is minor teaks like how it handles IPv6 by default instead of IPv4 for internal networking and shit....
Leave a computer geek with a computer and who knows what the results will be...
And the pics was taked by WildBlue on a far from decent swoop, but it was a cool pic so I am using it. :P

The color thing. That's kinda cool. My Dell laptop needs major servicing every month or so, I can tell when windoze starts bluescreening. I'm gonna have to find that setting.

I did a search on google, and the best I could find was a program that would do it for you.
I think the bigger concern is the number of us logged in here on a perfectly good friday night.
At least I'm halfway through a pretty mediocre bottle of California Zin. Yumm.
